Hi I'm Katie

I grew up in California. I'm a mother of four boys. I'm a Dental Hygienist. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love all kinds of music. I love the sun on my face, and the sound of children's laughter. I love people and I love the Gospel. It gives me strength and passion daily. It gives me a goal in life to be and do better. It gives me hope.

Why I am a Mormon

It took a little while, but finally in my 30's I converted. It seemed as though I had influences throughout my life pulling me towards the church, but never truly gave it a chance. I wanted more for my family. I tried going to church. There were so many beautiful souls all trying to follow Christ's example. I could feel their happiness. Almost every talk seemed like it was directed to me, and still to this day, in every talk, on every Sunday there is still a message just for me. I know that the commandments were given to us on this earth to help us to have a happy life. I know that there are trials and struggles, but I know that through daily prayer and having a relationship with your father in heaven that things truly are and do get easier. I love my church, and I know that no matter where I go there is my church family waiting there for me, no matter what town, or what state, or continent. I have peace knowing this. The church has brought peace to my heart and I know where I'm going and where I belong.

How I live my faith

One thing that I have been lucky enough to do is work out in the Vineyard here in our town to help those that are needy. We pick grapes and lay them down on trays, roll the trays after they have dried, and prune the vineyard. I know that probably doesn't sound like "fun" to most people, but when you get a group of people working together, and you see the families and everyone working together it truly warms your heart. It's an amazing experience. It's a great opportunity to grow and see how much can be done when your helping one another. I have never seen so many eager people to work and to give their time and talents than I have in my church. I also have the oppotunity to teach Sunday School for children ages 15 to 18. It's great to be able to get to know the youth of the church and share scriptures. These kids are some of the best examples I have seen in our youth today. They stand out amongst their peers, and it's great to be able to interact with them on a weekly basis. At home we have prayers together as a family daily, that helps to close the night in our home. My husband is the Scoutmaster for our Boyscout troop which meets on a weekly basis, my children have learned new skills and have developed friendships that I know will last a lifetime. All of these things my family and myself did not experience prior to joining the church. I love that we are all engaged in positive activities with great people.
