Hi I'm Shaelie

I am a Mormon

About Me

I am a recently graduated college student with a degree in family life. I am the sixth of eight children, six of which are brothers. I love spending time with my family and friends. I love being outdoors and have lived in the mountains for three summers at a family camp.

Why I am a Mormon

I always believed that the Church was true and never really questioned it until I got to college. When I came to college I thought that everything would great and happy because I was living my life the way I should be and because I was around other people who had the same standards as I did. I never knew that it was going to be so hard living on my own and making my own decisions about what I did. I began to see that although I had always lived the standards that my parents had taught me, I was not sure whether or not I was doing it for them or for myself. I spent a lot of time praying to my Heavenly Father about my life and about what I should be doing. It was not until then that I realized how much I needed my Heavenly Father and my Savior Jesus Christ in my life to help to guide me and to love me for who I was. Although I have learned a lot academically while at college, the most important thing that I have learned is that I do have my own testimony of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I have learned that I really am a Daughter of God, and that He has so much more in store for me than I can even begin to imagine. Without Him and Jesus Christ in my life I would be lost. I know that with them on my side I can do anything. I know that this Church is true, and that it is lead by a prophet inspired by God.

How I live my faith

A lot of living my religion involves helping others around me to strengthen their own faith and activity in the LDS faith. It is being an example to others all the time and never letting my standards down. It is being there for others when they start to struggle with what they believe, and in turn being able to strengthen my own faith by helping others. My faith is part of who I am and is involved in my every day actions. It is not something that I can leave at the door when it is convenient and pick up later. It is part of who I am all the time.

What is faith?

Faith is believing that things will always turn out for the best even when they seem like they are at their worst. Sometimes in our lives we feel like everything is falling apart and that we have no control with what happens to us. This is where faith comes in and we learn to trust that our Father in Heaven is in control and that He has a plan and a purpose for us even if we can't see what that is for ourselves.
