Hi I'm Emily

I just returned from a 5 month humanitarian mission aboard a US navy ship. I am an ER nurse. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Alberta, Canada, and lived there until I finished receiving my nursing degree at the age of 24. I really wanted to move somewhere warm, as I had been cold my whole life! I prayed about where to move and received the answer to move to Arizona. I have lived in AZ for the past 6 years (with the exception of the last 5 months), and have been working in a wonderful hospital as an RN. I feel so blessed to be able to be a nurse- to serve and bring light into people's lives people for a living:) I played soccer all growing up, and I love to run. I ran for my college x-country team, and won first place in the province in my freshman year, individual and for the team. I also love to water ski, and do anything outdoors. I love visiting my family in Canada and spending time with them. I am the middle of 5 girls... my 4 sisters are all married, and I am so blessed to have 8 nieces and nephews. It was so much fun growing up in a house with 6 girls (including my mom), how I love them! I plan to return to school to receive a master's degree and become a nurse practitioner.

Why I am a Mormon

There are influences all around constantly voicing their opinions on how we should act and look; how we should spend our money and time; what will bring happiness and prosperity; and what our priorities in life should be. How does one know which which influence to listen to? How can we know if our choices are right? How do we keep up with the ever changing morals, values, trends and fads of the world? I am so very grateful that the gospel of Jesus Christ has given me a plan that I may follow with perfect confidence, knowing that my choices will bring peace, happiness and prosperity in this life. When I do my best to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ, He allows me to be guided in all things by His Spirit. I am able to KNOW, not just guess or wonder, that the choices I make are correct. There is nothing that can replace the feelings of peace I feel on a daily basis as I strive to live as Jesus Christ would live. I understand my mission on earth as as daughter of God. He wants me to be happy. He wants me to serve and uplift the people who surround me. He wants me to learn and develop my talents. There is nothing more important to me than returning to live with my Father in Heaven and His Son, Jesus Christ and my family, after this earth life.

How I live my faith

I just returned form a 5 month humanitarian mission with the US navy aboard the USNS Comfort. We served in 9 countries throughout the South and Central American and the Caribbean. I loved serving my Heavenly Fathers children and to bring them hope and help them know they were loved. Similarly in my life, I pray daily to be the answer to someones prayer, and to help others feel of God's love for them. I work in the highest acuity ER in Arizona, and feel privileged that God allows me to help save the lives of His children. I am returning to school to become a nurse practitioner, so that I can provide more care to the people in the impoverished nations of the world.
