Hi I'm Valerie

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a new Mom who is lucky enough to stay home with my daughter as I learn how to take care of her and adjust to my new life. Once upon a time I went to Univeristy and met my husband. We got married in the temple for time and all eternity. I went back to school to be a teacher and worked as a substitute before having my baby. I love to be active, run, snowboard, and go to Zumba when I get the time. Life is busy, but I think that's better than the alternative.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised as a Mormon and feel blessed to have a family and parents who taught me about my Savior Jesus Christ and my loving Heavenly Father. While all along I knew that what I was taught (to be good and kind and to do unto others as I would have done unto me, to take care of my body and know that I was a daughter of God) was true, it wasn't until I was 18 and moved away from home that I finally prayed to my Heavenly Father to know that the Book of Mormon is true and that Joseph Smith was a prophet. I'm not sure why I took so long. I think I was worried that I wouldn't get an answer, and then where would I be. But I had nothing to worry about. My Father in heaven answered my individual and sincere prayer, and I knew that everything I was taught was true. I know Joseph Smith was a prophet and that he translated the Book of Mormon, which I also know to be true. I know that my savior Jesus Christ knows me and loves me and atoned for my sins. Because of him I can repent, be forgiven, and return to my Heavenly Father..because I definitly make mistakes. I am so grateful for this knowledge. Because my prayer was answered, and because I have gained a testimony, I choose to be a Mormon. I choose to listen to the prophets, to keep the commandments, and to try and be a good person, because I know that is the only way to true and everlasting happiness, and who doesn't want to be happy?

How I live my faith

In my ward I get to work in the Primary, which is like Sunday School for kids aged 3 to 12. I love to teach the children of our ward about their savior Jesus Christ and their Heavenly Father. I love the simple and pure spirit felt each Sunday as I learn from the good examples of the children and families in our ward. I try to live my faith by serving and volunteering to help others in my ward and in my community, and by being a good person, friend, and neighbour.
