Hi I'm Luke

I'm a Farmer's son, a lover of history, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

As a child, growing up in the valley's of Utah, I found great excitement in the adventurous tales of cowboys, treasure hunters, and heroes. Much of my youth was spent in pursuing courses that aided me in my imagination of these things, such as family campouts, viewing films, and having our mother read to us stories. Age has come upon me since then, but yet my heart still beats tenaciously to the tales of history, both ancient and modern.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born of parents who knew, and who still know, that families play an important role in our Heavenly Father's plan for his children. Therefore they sought from the beginning to teach me, along with my siblings, correct principles that would aid us in times of choice. Soon I found myself growing older, and with those years I began to see more clearly that I was dwelling in an arena of choice; each decision holding either good or bad consequences for my life and it's outcome. Furthermore, It was at this maturing time of my youth that a dear friend of mine spoke by way of invitation to me. He kindly invited me to read the Book of Mormon; a book which acts as a symbolic keystone to the things which we believe and also as a companion book of scripture to the Holy Bible. Years before this invitation I had been baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, nevertheless I had never before in my life made an attempt to read the entire record. Therefore nearly everyday, over the summer months, I opened that book commencing with a prayer and the things I discovered have forever changed my life. The Spirit of the living God, our Heavnly Father, has burned within my heart as I have pondered the words of the ancient prophets who crafted the Book of Mormon record under that same Spirit. Through such I have come to know for myself that Joseph Smith held the calling of a Prophet, that the Book of Mormon is holy scripture, and that Jesus Christ is the Savior and Redeemer of all mankind.

How I live my faith

Though I be a man who is full of weakness and imperfection, yet I find that one of the greatest ways this faith can be lived is by simply loving those we associate with. Love does not always need to be manifest in great displays, such as purchasing for individuals costly materials, or through a public presentation; rather it can be demonstrated through even the smallest acts of kindness. When Jesus Christ lived upon this earth, a man approached him with the following question: "Master, which is the great commandment in the law?" The Savior responded by saying, "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself"(see Matthew 22:36-39.) He who is filled with perfect love, has admonished us to love, for truly such is a tie that will unite the family of man. This admonition of the Savior has given me great joy, for it has acted as an antidote; unto the stripping from my life misery and discouragement at times of selfishness and distress.
