Hi I'm Neysa

I live in Oroville, Washington and I am a City Council Member. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married and have 8 wonderful kids, 2 sons in law and a granddaughter. My family is the most important thing to me. My husband is a Border Patrol Agent and we had the opportunity to live in Puerto Rico for over 2 years.Besides being involved in city government, I like to be involved in the community in any way I can. I like to travel, read, take long baths, ride horses, and crochet. I can't wait to retire and be a world traveler.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born to a Mormon family but I had the opportunity when I was grown to attend a different church, which I did for a while. It never felt the same to me. I couldn't feel the presence of the Holy Ghost, or the nearness of my Heavenly Father. I also had a hard time making good choices and saw no reason not to drink and party. My life was going nowhere. I returned to my local Mormon church and immediately felt a difference. My desires and goals changed and I rediscovered my relationship with my Savior Jesus Christ and my Heavenly Father. I knew they had never given up on me and never stopped loving me. I know The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the true church of Jesus Christ. It was organized by Him and is led by His prophet. This contains the fullness of his gospel and is the only way to true happiness in this life.

How I live my faith

I love going to Church every Sunday. During the week, we take one day as a family to learn about and discuss a gospel topic. We try to pray every day as a family, and I encourage my children to pray alone. My kids are all involved with school sports, so we go to a lot of games. I get involved with several community groups. I like to help out wherever I can. At Church, I enjoy teaching both adult classes and the kids. I especially love the little kids. We have one son who has returned from being a missionary for 2 years, and another preparing to go. I enjoy spending time with other members of my church. We are like a big family.

Why do Mormons believe in the Bible?

We believe that the Bible is the word of God as far as it is translated correctly. We use the King James version of the Bible. The Bible teaches us about Jesus as Jehovah communicating to his ancient prophets (in the Old Testament) for the good of his people and to prepare them for His coming. In the New Testament, Jesus is born to the earth and Himself establishes his Church and teachings. Studying the Bible shows us the true organization of his Church and how we are to conduct ourselves.
