Hi I'm Susan

I'm a newlywed, a college student, and incredibly busy. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am currently a working college student, and I'm finding that I have too many things I want to do and too little time to do them all. I know I'm probably the only person on the earth with that problem ; ). When I do get a moment though, I love to spend time with my husband watching movies, going shopping, or creating grand schemes for our future. We also love to go on cheap dates and take pointless videos of our cats.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church, and I was always the token "Mormon girl" at school, but I was never really strong in the church until my last year of high school. I had a friend who gained an interest in the church, and we decided to read through the Book of Mormon together; it all went uphill from there. Page by page, the Book of Mormon and its testimony of Jesus Christ changed my life. I finally realized along the way that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and that I should probably listen to and follow what the prophet today, Thomas S. Monson, has to say. As I started living by the teachings of the church I became a better, happier person. Life became more vibrant and beautiful. Through these experiences, and many more that followed, I gained an unshakable testimony that this is not just another church. This is the church of Jesus Christ in its entirety and I will never, ever leave it. I will always follow Jesus Christ, whereever He leads me.

How I live my faith

My role in the church is to help take care of the sisters in our congregation. I help teach and conduct Sunday meetings and participate in bi-weekly meetings where me and three other sisters discuss the needs of sisters in our ward and how we can help. Whenever there is a death or serious illness in the ward, I help mobilize help for those in need. I also make regular visits to sisters just to see how they're doing.

What is being a Mormon like?

Being a Mormon requires a lot of effort, but it's worth it through and through. We pray and read our scriptures every day, we go to church for 3 hours every Sunday, we serve in various capacities within the church, all alongside our normal day to day life. We strive to live all the commandments of God as taught by His prophets, both ancient and modern. But it's not really about what we do, it's about who we become. As we live by the principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ, we become better. We become better moms, dads, brothers, sisters, daughters, sons, aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, friends, employees, citizens, etc. We become more like Christ as we pattern our lives after Him, and we are filled with joy when we do so. The only way to really know what it's like to be a Mormon, however, is to try it out for yourself. Show more Show less
