Hi I'm Jake

I'm a rugby player, a Sports Fanatic, and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am currently serving a mission in North Carolina has a full time missionary for the church. Before coming out on my mission, I was currently going to school in Utah and I'm majoring in Sports Managment with Sports Marketing has a minor. I also played Rugby for my high school. I'm the third child of seven Kids 4 brothers and two sisters. I would be second, but I have a twin brother that is older than me and is also serving a mission in Argetina.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a mormon, because I've come to know of the truthfulness of this gospel. We have the restored gospel once again on the earth that Jesus Christ taught when he was here on the earth. We have a modern day prophet President Thomas S. Monson who leads and guides Christ's church. And that the same Priesthood authority that Christ and his apostles have is once again restored on the earth. Also that God has revealed to us a book called the Book of Mormon another testament of Jesus Christ to be hand and hand with the Bible that speaks of Jesus Christ's gospel and does not contradict the Bible. And I have prayed to know of the Truthfulness of the Book of Mormon and of Joseph Smith to know if he was a prophet of God, who God had chosen to restore his gospel on the earth once again. I know this to be true and that is the reason why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

The ways that I live my faith is by following the commandments that our Heavenly Father has given us. Has a missionary of the church we go and teach the gospel of Jesus Christ and help people to build their faith in Christ. We go and teach about the restored gospel of Jesus Christ and how we can return to our Heavenly Father. Also I participate in Community Service, trying to help out the community is something that is important to me. Because I know if I help out my community that they will help me out when I need it the most. I also gain friends that I wouldn't of had if I didn't participate in community service each week. I am grateful for the opportunity I have to serve our fellow men.

In whom should we have faith?

We should build our faith upon Jesus Christ who is the rock of our Redeemer. Jesus Christ has made it possible for us to receive salvation and to be able to be forgiven of our sins. Has we endure trails, we should always pray to our Heavenly Father for guidance and also for help. Jesus Christ knows every pain that we will ever go through. He suffered on the cross for us and endured everything, because he loved us. I know that my Redeemer lives and loves all of us, because we are his brothers and sisters and he wants us to be happy. We hold on fast to the iron rod and center our lives around Jesus Christ that we will be happy and also hope for the better.  Show more Show less

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Not all Mormons are required to serve a mission. The males that are Priesthood holders are commanded by God to serve a mission and it is their Priesthood Responsibility. Has told by a prophet of God President Monson in the October 2010 conference said, "First, to young men of the Aaronic Priesthood and to you young men who are becoming elders I repeat what prophets have long taught—that every worthy, able young man should prepare to serve a mission. Missionary service is a priesthood duty—an obligation the Lord expects of us who have been given so very much. Young men, I admonish you to prepare for service as a missionary. Keep yourselves clean and pure and worthy to represent the Lord. Maintain your health and strength. Study the scriptures." Through our Heavenly Fathers servants we know what we are to do so that we can once again live with our Heavenly Father. I know that has these worthy young men serve missions that they will bring the world the Truths of the gospel. Show more Show less

Who founded Mormonism and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

In the spring of 1820, a 14-year-old boy named Joseph Smith went into a grove of trees near his home in Palmyra, New York, and prayed to learn which church he should join. In answer to his prayer, God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, appeared to him, just as heavenly beings had appeared to prophets like Moses and Paul in biblical times. Joseph learned that the Church originally organized by Jesus Christ was no longer on the earth. Joseph Smith was chosen by God to restore the Church of Jesus Christ to the earth. During the next 10 years, Joseph was visited by other heavenly messengers, translated the Book of Mormon by the power of God, and received divine authority to organize the Church. The Church was organized in Fayette, New York, on 6 April 1830, under the leadership of Joseph Smith. It has grown to an organization with members and congregations throughout the world. Mormons believe Jesus Christ is their Savior. Why do we need a Savior?

It is impossible to really put into words what our Savior has done for us. The meaning of the Atonement which we refer to is when Jesus Christ suffered in the Garden of Gethseamne, was crucified on the cross, and then was Resurrected three days later. When Christ suffered in the Garden of Gethseamne in Luke we see that Christ suffered much and took all the sins of the world upon him self that he even bled from every pore Luke 2241-44. And when he was crucified and hung on the cross he again felt the weight of our sins. And even died for us that we could have a Savior that we suffer for us, so that we could be with our Heavenly Father again. Then when he was Resurrected he broke the bands of death, so that we could be Resurrected and to have perfect bodies. And enjoy the same blessings that our Heavenly Father enjoys. He also made it possible that all man kind could be resurrected righteous or wicked. We are ever indebted to Jesus Christ and because of his infinite Atonement we can live with our families again and also our Heavenly Father. I love my Savior and all that he did for me and I know that through the Atonement I can live with Heavenly Father again and my family. Show more Show less
