Hi I'm Charlene

Born in Australia, served a mission in Missouri Independence, currently studying, love life... I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am a happy and bright kinda person that loves to have a fun time with family and friends - they always bring a smile to my face. If you ever manage to go on a road trip with me you can always expect to get lost! Growing up, watching and hearing my mum sing, I wanted to be able to sing just like her... well, I didn't get the 'just like' her thing, but I definitely do love to sing and dance whenever I get the chance. I studied Architectural drafting out from high school and worked as a Draftsperson for several years... until I left to serve a mission in Missouri Independence. On returning from my mission I felt that I needed a change, I'm not always great with change. My passion... and patience for teaching had grown. I currently am undertaking an undergraduate course in Business Management and Education (Secondary) where I am able to rise to new heights and challenges - trust me. In my spare time I get together with friends and play music and sing. I love to hike and look down at the wonderful creations we've been blessed with. Other favourite things to do is play sports, write in my journal and reflect on the things that have occurred in my life. It helps me to recognise the Lord's hand in my life. Life has not been simple, but the Lord blessed me with a wonderful family and with amazing friends who have helped me to see His tender mercies.

Why I am a Mormon

Why I'm a Mormon? It brings me joy, happiness and love in my life! I would not be the person I am today without it. If people had known me 12 years ago, they would hopefully see the changes I have made and possibly say, "Is that Charlene?" It was my journey in serving and in preparing for a mission that helped me to realise that Heavenly Father was real and that I am His daughter and that He cared enough to send family and friends my way that I would come to know Him, and His Son Jesus Christ. The Atonement became real for me and on my mission I saw it become real for others. The Book of Mormon has been a key in my conversion and knowledge of the gospel. I know that it is true. I love reading The Book of Mormon and finding answers to my questions and feelings each time I turn the pages. I am a Mormon because I cannot deny the blessings that have come into my life because I placed my faith in Him. Life still has it's challenges, I've had my struggles, but it's HIs words, His prophets and His angels that have kept me going to where I need to be. I know that each time I have a rough day, I know I can turn to Him in gratitude.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by striving to be the best that I can and strive to fulfil my callings to the best of my ability. I remember leaving the young women's program at 18 and was soon after called to teach more wise and learned women. It was quite intimidating and daunting at first, but I learnt to live my faith by first observing how others lived the gospel. I was grateful for their love and warm extended hearts of understanding. Growing up, I thought children didn't like me. Not too soon after teaching, I was called to serve with the children ages 2-12, as a leader, and found myself among children that inspired me to become a better example. I began to live my life the best way that I could, hoping that my Heavenly Father would be pleased. Yes, I may have slipped up every now and then, but I learnt through the Atonement of Jesus Christ that all things can be made whole again. Through my callings, I have learnt what it means to endure and to serve without fear... not easy to overcome, but I know it is possible. Following those callings I was called to serve in the Young Women's Program and also participated in musical and choir items. Through small kind acts of service and by striving to be a good example is how I live my faith.
