Hi I'm Scott Tingey

I have a big family, I love to water ski, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 20 years old. I grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah in a family of 8 kids. There is nothing more important to me than my family. I love the outdoors, and enjoy things like fishing, hiking, camping, skiing - especially water skiing, and hanging out with friends and family. I have lived in Australia for a year and a half now, and I love it here. I have studied at the University of Utah, but I am still trying to decide what exactly I want to major in.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family that was already strong in the church, so i grew up with those same views and beliefs. It is something that has always just been a part of my life I guess. But, as I have gotten older, I have had to decide for myself if it was always going to be part of my life. Through growing up, and seeing the blessings that come both to me individualy and to my family through living the teachings of Jesus Christ, I knew it was true. I have had too many experiences through reading the Book of Mormon, praying, attending church, and obeying the commandments we have been given today to say otherwise.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be the best person I can possibly be. Its important to me to make sure the people around me are happy. So, I try to do my best to serve others, and help them when I can. Along with trying to be a good person, it is also important to me to live what I believe by keeping the commandments, by sharing what I know is true with others, and by always trying to learn more.

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

Scott Tingey
We agree with most Christians in saying that it is only by grace that we can be saved. However, that does not mean that it is by grace alone. We must qualify to recieve that grace through our own personal efforts in having faith in Jesus Christ, repenting, being baptized by someone holding to priesthood authority of God, recieving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end by keeping the commandments throughout our lives. As we do this, we can recieve such grace. Show more Show less
