Hi I'm Lori

I'm a Mormon. I grew up in California but have lived in many states. No matter where the chapel is, I feel the Spirit.

About Me

I am a 55 year old mother of five. I have 16 grandchildren. We recently moved to Idaho where we are putting down roots. This is a good central location where our family can easily gather. Our favorite week of the year is family reunion week. I used to love to run but now I just hit the gym a few times a week. I love taking walks with my husband and swinging on the porch. I just got chickens because we love fresh eggs. I am trying to learn how to garden. I don't love to can, but I love the results. I enjoy baking bread and cookies a little too much.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon by birth but I am a disciple of my Savior Jesus Christ by choice. I didn't gain a testimony of my own until I was an adult. I always felt the Church was true, I just hadn't taken the time to become truly converted and committed until I had a family of my own. I know my Heavenly Father cares about me because when I pray to Him I feel loved. I know Jesus Christ is my Savior because when I ponder His atoning sacrifice I feel hope. When I keep the commandments I am happy. When I read about the Prophet Joseph Smith and study the Book of Mormon my mind and heart tell me what I am reading is true. I have felt the power of the Priesthood and know it is real. The talks that I hear from our church leaders during General Conference inspire me and strengthen my resolve to keep trying, even though I am constantly making mistakes. I love going to the temple and feeling accepted and like I am on the right path back to my eternal home. When I live the gospel and see my family and others I love living the gospel, my joy is inexpressible. I am grateful for the Holy Ghost because it is through Him that all these experiences are possible. I love my Heavenly Father and I am so grateful for His plan of salvation. I am grateful for my Savior and His desire to help me. I am eternally grateful that I know and have a testimony of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. When my life is not in tune with all the teachings of the gospel, life feels empty and meaningless. But, when I am living the gospel my life is a journey with a goal. Knowing that I am a daughter of God helps me recognize my worth when I feel discouraged. Believing Jesus always understands because He has experienced more hardship than I can even imagine gives me courage to keep fighting for my life here on this earth and for an eternal life with my Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

Because I have lived in many areas where there were few members of the church I have had many opportunities to serve. When I was young, I almost always taught the children. For a while I was their chorister and had the opportunity of teaching them songs. As I listened to the children sing about their Savior and His gospel the Spirit witnessed to me that the things they sang about were true. I have also spent time with the young women of the church. They are so eager to learn that Heavenly Father has a plan for each one of them. They learn to rely on their Heavenly Father for guidance through life. Now I am working with the women of the Church and I love associating with women who know who they are, where they are going and are doing what they need to fulfill their heart's desire.
