Hi I'm Rebecca

I'm a dancer and a psychology student. My family is my everything. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Currently, I'm serving a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The gospel of Jesus Christ has brought me so much joy in my own life that I want to share it with all those around me! My family is the most important thing in my life, and the gospel is what has brought us through everything--good times and bad times. Before my mission I attended college at BYU-Idaho, and I will go back there after my mission to finish my degree in psychology. I am a dancer--I love ballet, jazz, hip hop, modern, you name it. I also love zumba, yoga, and pilates.

Why I am a Mormon

I can say that I'm a Mormon because of one simple thing: prayer. I've prayed about this Church, and I've always received the confirmation that it is God's church here on earth. The Book of Mormon and the Bible complement each other, and I love and treasure both. I have seen how Heavenly Father has blessed me in my simple, everyday life. I've never experienced anything truly "extraordinary", but I've received protection and direction in ways that there is no mistaking that Heavenly Father was the one guiding and protecting me. One of my favorite scripture verses is Alma 26:12 from the Book of Mormon- "Yea, I know that I am nothing; as to my strength I am weak; therefore I will not boast of myself, but I will boast of my God, for in his strength I can do all things; yea, behold, many mighty miracles we have wrought in this land, for which we will praise his name forever." This verse has always been true in my life in whatever situation or task was put in my path. If God brought me to it, then He will surely bring me through it.

How I live my faith

One of my favorite scriptures is Mark 5:36- "Be not afraid, only believe." It is what led me to serve a full-time mission for the Lord. Every day for 18 months, I put on a nametag on that says that I represent the Savior Jesus Christ. I try (with all of my human weakness) to do what He would do if He were here! There are certain things that I do as a missionary and as a member of God's church because of the promises I made at baptism. I study the scriptures (the Bible and the Book of Mormon) daily, which is a road map for my life. I attend Church every week to receive strength and renewal. I pray daily to receive help and guidance from my Heavenly Father. I serve others and try my best to become better each and every day.

Are Mormons Christians?

Without a doubt, yes, Mormons are Christians. Christ's name is even in the name of our church-- The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-day Saints. Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer. When we are baptized, we take upon the name of Jesus Christ, promising to always remember him. This means that we live our life in such a way that whatever we do should reflect what Jesus Christ would do in the same situation. Of course, being human, we mess up just like any other person, but the point is, that we are striving, and I know, in my life, as I continue to really try to be a better person, I truly am becoming a better person.
