Hi I'm Dustin

I love volleyball and Basketball. Im a Pheonix Suns fan and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm from Mesa Arizona currently serving a full time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints. Im currently serving in the Alabama Birmingham mission. What a blessing its been to share the Gospel with the people of the south.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints and have been taught my whole life the teachings and standards of the church. I always felt I had a firm belief and testimony of the things that were taught to me. I tried hard to follow the council of my parents and church leaders and to do what I felt was right. After highschool however my parents warned me that the first year after graduation would be my hardest, that I would face trials and temptations that would challenge me. At that time the council went in one ear and out of the other. I felt that my Testimony was strong and that there wasnt anyway I would be shaken. I was very wrong. That year did try my faith and as different influences came into my life I began to doubt and question the teachings of my parents. I began to brake the morals and standards I had been taught and I felt confused and lost. At that time I was supposed to be preparing to serve a full time mission for the church and as family and friends questioned if I was going to go.. the pressure began to build. I wanted to serve my God but I wanted to do it the right way, so I began my journey to find my testimony. I knew that I believed in God, I knew that when I prayed that there was somebody listening and that they cared about me. I had a firm belief in Jesus Christ, I knew that he died for me and that through him I could be cleansed from sin. But when it came to the man named Joseph Smith, a modern day prophet, I felt uncertain. The church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day saints believes in a modern day prophet, Somebody who talks and communes with our savior and our father in heaven and receives revelation on behalf of our Heavenly Fathers children. Could something like that really be true? or is it just a good story? I began to search out Joseph Smith and his teachings. I began to study church history, Doctrines of the Church from good and bad sources.. but nothing gave me the answer I was looking for. I finally found the answer.. it was a book called "The Book of Mormon" I began to read the Book of Mormon and as I read I felt a peace to my heart. I felt the doubt begin to wash away as I read from a record of people who dealt with Jesus Christ just like in the Bible. I knew that the feelings that I felt were an answer to my questions, but I still wanted to pray about it. That was when I received a sure answer that these things are true. God does answer prayers, I know with all my heart that if we seek his coucil he will show us what to do. I know that Joseph Smith is a Prophet of God and that the Church which Jesus Christ established in his day has been re-established in our day. I know this because I have felt his love to me manifest through his Holy Spirit. That is why I am mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith through following Morals and Standards that have been given to us by a Prophet of God. I believe in keeping myself pure and clean both physically and spiritually. The evils and darkness of today can be battled by the light of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I believe so strongly in living these Standards that I am willing to spend 2 years to teach them to people so they can feel the safety and peace that I have felt.

What is the Book of Mormon?

Dustin
The Book of Mormon is an ancient record that was written during the same time as the Bible. It is a record from one of the branches or tribes of Israel that left Jeruselem during the time of the Babylonian Captivity. The Book of Mormon contains the Fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Joseph Smith was led to this Book by a Heavenly Messenger named "Moroni", one of the Prophets who wrote in the Book himself. Joseph Smith Translated the record through the gift and power of God and it is now a gift to the world today. Since Joseph Smith translated it, it can act as an evidence of his calling as a Prophet of God. "By their fruits ye shall know them". If we read the Book of Mormon and pray about its teachings, we can receive an answer from the Holy Spirit that the Book is true, and that Joseph Smith was a Prophet. Show more Show less
