Hi I'm Emily

I am a potato farmers wife, and love that I am a Mormon!

About Me

I grew up in a small town, where everyone knew everything about farming, but me! I always told my parents I wanted to get far away from the small town of Idaho, and move to a city. When I left my parents house and started college, I had no idea how much I would grow to miss my little home town and my family of 9 (counting parents). Away and on my own, at college, I met this fair haired, blue eyed farmer boy, that stole my heart, secretly, because I didn't think I stood a chance with him. We became good friends, but nothing ever happened between us, he went on a LDS mission for 2 years, and came home a MAN! One thing led to another, and we started dating. I knew from the 2nd date that I wanted no other man, and low and behold a year later we were married! We both went back to school, had a little girl in the mean time, and graduated with our Bachelors. We then moved to Colorado, and there my husband went to Grad School. We then had our second child, a little boy, and my husband graduated with his masters in Crop and Soil Science. I ate my words that I said so long ago, because my husband and I have moved back to Idaho, to a small town, and I am learning about farming... I am SHOCKED:) I have been a member of this church my whole life, and love the gospel! I love what it teaches my family and I, and the guidence it gives me in raising my children. I have found that at many times parenting brings me to my knees in prayer! I don't know what I would do without this knowledge!

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the LDS faith, and I think the main reason I am still apart of this church is not because it is convient. I am apart because I know. To me it makes sense. It helps me understand what I need to do with myself, it helps me become free, free from addictions, pain, and regrets. When I choose to follow the example of Christ, I am happy, things workout, and I am at peace with myself and those around me.

How I live my faith

I love music- there are songs that bring me joy, make me laugh, make me think about my current situation, remind me of the past, or reminds me of a family member. But then there are songs that bring horrible thoughts, ideas, or feelings- whether it be through the lyrics or the beat. I have found that I live my faith by surrounding my music with those that uplift. I can't describe how much happier I am when I do this. I also love my faith by making sure I make myself live the gospel- go to church, read my scriptures, say my prayers, make sure my language is filled with uplifting and clean words, as well as my actions. Now, I know I'm not perfect, and I do make mistakes- but I believe this life is about progression, and if we aren't striving to become better- than what are we progressing towards? I believe that is really how I live my faith by trying everyday to be better.

What is the role of the husband and the wife in the family?

Growing up, I remember looking at all the married couples and thinking their life was SO easy because they already had everything planned out for them. HOW WRONG I WAS! Now that I am a wife and mother, I know married life isn't a walk in the park. Marriage takes work, but I can say that marriage is easier when both of the spouses work together, they show each other that they love and care for each other. If a couple will work together, they will do more for their children, they will have provided a place where the children can come home and escape all the sick things that are in the world right now. Husband and wife have the responsibility of making their home a haven from the world, a place where they can come and feel loved, supported, and safe. This task is not easy, I have found it to be difficult at times, but I know that by working with my spouse, we can accomplish this. Show more Show less
