Hi I'm Marquis

I'm a recent vocational school graduate and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Marquis Limbrick. I have been a member of the church since November 7, 2010. I was baptized in the College Heights Ward in Tacoma, Washington. I was confirmed a member on November 14th, 2010. I was ordained to priesthood office of Elder on March 6th, 2011. I love to write poetry and songs, I rap, I love photography, and I love the gospel. I have gone through a lot of changes in my life for the better since joining the church. I am person who loves to help people in anyway I can. Ever since I joined the church, my passion for helping people and becoming a better son of God has grown stronger by the minute of everyday I live. I love God and I love people. I am a man who strives to not only be the priesthood holder the Lord wants me to be but be the person the Lord wants me to be. I live for bettering myself as a person and helping others. I encourage all disciples of the Lord to do the same. Overall, I am a proud member of The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter Day Saints.

Why I am a Mormon

Before I became a Mormon, I was raised Baptist. I was raised in it but I did not start attending church until age 14. My parents, my grandpa and my aunt were the biggest influences in me attending church and learning more about the Lord. When I started my sophomore year of high school I was looking for a church to attend. A good friend of mine took me to his church which is called Rainier Springs, a non denomination Christian church. I attended that church for four years, I was a youth leader and I worked in nursery. Along with that I sometimes went to St. Johns, a Baptist church where my aunt and cousin attend. During my time in Rainier Springs, I investigated LDS when I was 16, I was almost baptized but backed out because I was happy in the church I was in at the time and I did not fully understand it. Ever since before I graduated high school I was not attending church until another good friend of mine who grew up in the church called me one Sunday and asked me to attend a baptism because she was singing, so I went. When I saw the baptism I was impressed and I felt different than I did in any other church. The missionaries talked to me and asked me if I wanted to join, at first I said no. After a family home evening event on Monday, after reading the Book of Mormon on the first chapter then praying to God asking if it is true, and finding out it is true, I called the missionaries and changed my mind. I was baptized November 7th, 2010. I was confirmed on November 14th, 2010. I felt happy and I could not stop smiling. I felt like LDS was where I needed to be all along. I had a lot of questions at first because of rumors being told to me about the church but I found out for myself that the church is true, this is Jesus Christ's church. I follow the Lord's gospel in this church because I prayed about it and felt the spirit strong and found that it is true. Now I cannot imagine life without this church and never will be able to.

How I live my faith

I am in the College Heights Ward. I'm an activities committee member and district leader in the Elders Qorum. I attend as much events as I possibly can. I attend and participate in church every Sunday, and I assist the missionaries in inviting and teaching people whenever possible. Even on my own I go and talk to people about the church because I want them to feel how I felt when I joined. I want people to change their lives for the better like I am so I motivate myself everyday to go out and invite people to come to church. I invite every person I see no matter who it is because no matter who they are, they are all sons and daughters of the Lord and I want them to come onto him like I did and make a positive step in their lives. I do my best to live by the commandments and laws of God and Jesus Christ everyday. I always strive to learn from my mistakes and become a better person off of each experience I encounter whether it be good or bad. God and Jesus Christ know what is best for everyone and want nothing but the best for everyone and they will not give up on their children so I don't give up on following their promptings in all that I do. The scripture that motivates me to stay that way is "The things which are impossible with men are possible with God"- Luke 18:27. The Lord will be there through trials and tribulations and he will be there through triumph as well. I also know that if we all just humble ourselves to God, he will bless us in many ways, whether the blessings are subtle or extreme miracles. God will also answer our prayers. The scripture that best explains it is "Be thou humble and the Lord thy God shall lead thee by the hand, and give thee answers to thy prayers"- Doctrine and Covenants 112:10. God the eternal father lives, Jesus Christ lives, we are lead by modern day prophets, Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins, and I am proud to say that I am a member of The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter Day Saints.
