Hi I'm David

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a recent graduate student that is looking to enter the job field. I live with my wife and son in Georgia. I have a background in archaeology and geology and have been a member of the church my since the age of eight.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church and baptized at the age of eight. However, I didn't have a strong faith in the teachings of the Church until I was sixteen. At this time, while going through many of the usual teenage struggles, I read the book of mormon and sincerely prayed to know of its truthfulness. While reading the Book of Mormon on a later date, I was strengthened by a scripture I read in 1 Nephi ( Chapter 3, Verse 7) and through that strength received a testimony that the Book of Mormon was true. Later, while listening to the prophets of the Church at general conference, I received a strong witness in my heart that their council was true and good. Since that time, I have served a mission in California and been active in whichever Ward I happen to be in.

How I live my faith

I actively participate in any ward (congregation) that I am in. I have fulfilled many roles, including BSA scout leader, sunday school teacher, priesthood leader, financial clerk, and many others. I have also had plenty of opportunity to serve in the community. This has included Habitat for Humanity, singing christmas carols at old folks homes, cleaning community streets, tutoring, working at food storehouses, and others. On a more private note, I try to act as Christ would when dealing with friends and family. I offer help when needed and try to be a friend to all those I meet. I'm not always as successful as I'd like to be, but having the goal and striving for it is what matters to me.

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

My answer YES! Mormons believe that the Bible is Holy Scripture and the word of God. We read and study the Bible often in our public meetings and in our private lives. It is a record of our Savior's ministry in and around Jerusalem, the journeys and trials of the Children of Israel, and the words of the apostles and prophets called while Jesus was on the Earth and shortly after that time. The Bible, in its entirety, is a testament of Jesus Christ and it is an essential part of our faith as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints! Show more Show less

Are Mormons Christians?

My answer to this question is an emphatic YES! The sole object of our worship is Jesus Christ. We, like other Christians, believe that he is the Son of God and Savior of the World, and that it only through faith in him that we can be forgiven of our sins and return to the presence of our Heavenly Father after this life. We believe that he lives and directs us through a prophet and twelve apostles in our day. Show more Show less
