Hi I'm Barbara Lyn

I am very grateful for my membership in this wonderful church. I am a Mormon

About Me

I am a single woman. I am a professional musician, singer and piano player. I also play the organ every Sunday for my Ward's congregation and wherever else I am needed in Church meetings, including funerals. I was raised Baptist, my maternal grandfather being a Baptist minister. I joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at age 20 after much study of the Bible and a diligent search for a church like the one described and demonstrated in the New Testament.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints simply because I knew and still know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the true Church of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who is the literal Son of the living God, the Creator of this earth, and to whom we as the inhabitants of this earth owe all allegiance to. I gained a testimony of this Church after a thorough search and study of the New Testament of the Bible, prayer, and receiving the missionary lessons. By the confirmation and witness of the Holy Ghost I know that this Church is truly Christ's Church. I knew, and still know, that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God and still is considered to be a true Prophet of God, chosen by our Savior to restore His Gospel and the fulness thereof in these latter days to prepare for the Second Coming of Christ. This Church is literally God's Kingdom here on the earth, and we as His children are called to help build it up by following our Savior in His footsteps. l also know that the Book of Mormon is the true Word of God, equal to and a companion of the Bible. These two holy scrips testify of the divinity of Jesus Christ, His Only Begotten Sonship to our Father in Heaven in mortal flesh, He being the Savior and Redeemer of all mankind and all things, and the Creator of this Heaven and this earth. I also know that we have been led by Prophets of God in this Church since the mortal death of Joseph Smith. Our present Prophet and President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is Thomas S. Monson. He is guided by Jesus Christ for His Church and Kingdom on the earth today. I testify of these things in the beloved name of our Savior and Lord, ,Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

I diligently keep the commandments of the Lord with all my heart. I am trying more each day to be like Jesus and speak the things that he would do and speak. I try to listen and obey the counsel that the Prophet and various leaders in the Church, who are called of God, give. I cannot do it alone. I need the Lord's help and I know I must pray always, as Jesus taught. I also am very conscientious about studying the standard scriptures that the Lord has made available to us as members of His Church, which are the Holy Bible, the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants and the Pearl of Great Price. I seek the Holy Ghost for understanding of the scriptures, for wisdom and guidance in my life and thank the Lord for my blessings each day. I sing and play the piano as a volunteer for a convalescent home as well as perform professionally in such places. Occasionally I sing in Church in choir and as a soloist. I attend the Lord's Temple two or sometimes three times a week,or maybe even four, both as a patron and a volunteer worker in addition to attending my Sunday meetings faithfully. I play the organ normally every Sunday in our chapel as well as play for the choir. I also play the organ for meetings in the Temple. I have had many church callings and I try to do what I think the Lord would have me do in magnifying them, or fulfilling the expected duties thereof. I have enjoyed my callings or duties in the Church that I have been called of the Lord to do over the years and hope that I continue to do so until the end of my mortal days on the earth. When I feel prompted, I try to go the extra mile. I pray that I will endure to the end in serving the Lord. I know that I must love my neighbor as myself in doing all these things, both in and out of His Church. I also try to repent of my mistakes daily as I recognize my offences to my fellow beings and to my God.  I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
