Hi I'm Jordan Powers

Missionaries aren't born, They're built.

About Me

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. Growning up I have found many interests over time. One of the many interests that I have found is building and taking things apart. I can remember taking apart toys while growning up. When I got older I was interested in looking at chips and seeing how they worked. When I took things apart I just would sometimes look at them and study some of the things that I took apart. You would be surprised at some of the things that I have taken apart. My mom sometimes would wonder what I was doing. I would have a mess sometimes across the floor. I would always tell her that I was working. I'm a hands on kinda-guy. I love working with my hands. I sometime want to do welding and go into techincal engineering. I have found that to be interesting. Just to work with chips. One of the other things I want to try and get into is mechanicial work. I want to know more about mechanical things and how they would work. I have had I guess you could say an aim for the military. I want to go into the Air force and learn things from there and how they would do things. I want to get into Welding and see and do some of the techincal stuff that they do.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the Mormon Faith. I was Baptized at 8 years old, and I still am learning about the Gospel. Something new everyday. One of the things that I like about the gospel is that therer is physical prove that God does exist and that Jesus is the Christ. Growing up I would spend time with Family, and Friends. Its good to be around those that you love and enjoy talking to. When I got older and I was in High School I was changing and I started hanging around with some other friends. My parents tried to encourage me to still do whats right. I made the choice to not follow them. But ... One day I knew that I had to change. I had to change the friends that I was around. I just strait out told them that I needed to change because it was the RIGHT thing to do. My Parents love me, and I needed to listen to them. But most importantly I needed to Listen to God. One thing that is interesting is that God knows us better then we know ourselfs. God knows whats going to happen to us, and what we need to do to change. God helped me change and I knew that it was the right thing to do. I went back being with the friends that I was growing up with. Because of the choice that I have made I have found and have seen the good blessings come my way. One of those blessing was getting the chance to serve a mission. I'm served in the New York Utica Mission. I have seen blessing on my behalf and I have had the greatest thing happen to me. That was learning to grow in Humility and to listen when I need to. One of the things that a mission does is that it prepares one to listen to god and it allows one to grow stronger in their faith. Just like tunning a radio to get a good clear station one can tune themselfs into getting a clean clear tunning of the spirit. Yes I am speaking from Experience. Exercising faith has helped me out both Spiritually but also pysically. One can become so intunned to exercies faith to a point where they themselfs can feel the love of Christ in their lives. I have done that by praying and reading the Scriptures The Bible and The Book Of Mormon.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith the the fullest that has been asked of me. But also sometimes I may not. But I know and so does everyone else know that we are all human. We all are going to make mistakes. But that means thats we have to try and do better. By changing our ways and by following with what we have been asked of by God.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Jordan Powers
The answer is Simple. NO! Mormons do not just help Mormons. Alot of people may think that we just only offiliate with just members and only help just members. Thats not true. In a Scripture from The Book of Mormon in which I like in found in Mosiah 2:17. And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom; in me, that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your god. Notice in this scripture it says fellow beings. From what I see Fellow beings are others around you. It doesn't matter what religion it is. It only matters that you serve them regardless of their religious background. For example when Hurricaine Katrina hit Florida, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was one of the first Organized Groups that was there to give aid to the people. They where able to take the time and the effort to make ends meet with Injured and with those that where with out certain needs. Show more Show less
