Hi I'm Holly

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

The missionaries came to my door one afternoon via a friend of mine. My younger brother and I sat down and listened to the lessons. Because we were both under 16 years old, we had to get our partents permission to be baptized. They gave their permission and a month after we were baptized, they were baptized. That was one of the most wonderful things to happen, I was so happy for our family.

Why I am a Mormon

I knew some about the church. Several families that lived on the block where I grew up were Mormon. We went to Primary when it was during the week and after school. We had gone to church on Sunday, so we had a little knowledge before we had the lessons. I had heard my parents talking about the beliefs of the church, I had started to look for a church to join when the Missionaries came. I knew the other churches weren't for me and it was like an answer to my prayers when the Missionaries came. Heavenly Father can guide you to the Church, if you listen for the "still small voice". I listened.

How I live my faith

It is funny how people can ask you if you are a Mormon. Especially if you work outside your home. If you are trying to live a life following the teachings of Jesus Christ, other people notice. I try to make every day a good day. It doesn't always work out that way, but even on a bad day you can stop and say a prayer. Ask Heavenly Father to help you through the rough times. If you are open to the messages, your worst day can turn into a very special day. Sunday is my favorite day of the week. I cannot wait to be with my sisters and brothers of the Church. It is a very special time.

What are Mormon church services like? Are visitors allowed at church meetings? Can I attend church?

Holly
When I was serious about joining the Church, I had forgotten how different the church services were from other churches. When I had gone to the Baptist church or the Nazarene church, one of the things they did during the service was pass a tray around for the members to put money in. They didn't do that at the Mormon Church and I had to ask why. How was the church building going to be taken care of, or how was the clean up crew going to be paid? In the Mormon Church people automatically pay on their pay day the 10 percent that you make when you work. That way there is no passing of the plate. No embarrassment, no big show. I liked that.
