Hi I'm Jace

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in a small town in Idaho. I'm 20 years old and have 3 younger siblings. I love the outdoors. Some of my hobbies are snowmobiling, snowboarding, having snowball fights, making snow angels...haha just kidding i haven't done that for a couple years....,playing sports, playing video games, doing random acts of service. I love politics. I competed nationally in "We The People" which is mock congressional hearings. I'm an easy going, fun loving guy.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family who was already part of this church, but that is not why I'm a Mormon. As I matured and came to think more for myself, I found myself questioning if what I had been taught growing up was what I really believed. It was at that point that I decided that I needed to come to gain a testimony or knowledge if this church was His church. So, I read the Book of Mormon and I prayed about it and with time I received my answer. It wasn't a manifestation of an angel but it was just a knowing. I just knew that the Book of Mormon was true and that this church is the Church of Jesus Christ. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is God's church and that it was restored through the prophet Joseph Smith and that Thomas S. Monson is a prophet of God who leads and guides us today.

How I live my faith

Right now I'm serving a two year mission in Chicago, IL. I have been learning spanish and teaching the people of Chicago about the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Who was Joseph Smith?

Jace
Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. When he was young, about 14, he was searching for the truth. After some time and study, he decided that he needed to pray and ask God which was the true church in order to find it. When he prayed, Our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ appeared to him and explained to him that the true church of Jesus Christ had fallen but in time it would be restored. Later Joseph was called to be a prophet and through him, God restored His church. Joseph led the church until his martyrdom. He was a father, a husband, a farmer, and a prophet of God. Why are Mormons asked to donate 10% of their income to their Church?

Jace
Mormons are asked to donate 10 of their income to the Church in order to fulfill a commandment that God gave thousands of years ago called tithing. In the latter days, God has asked the members of His church to donate 10 of their income for tithing. Show more Show less

Why is authority to perform a baptism important?

Jace
Authority to perform baptisms is key to the ordinance of baptism. Without authority a baptism is just a nice bath and has no effect in heaven, but a baptism that is performed with God's authority is valid on earth and in heaven. Show more Show less

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Jace
We can come to know our Father in Heaven by praying to Him, by reading the scriptures, and by keeping His commandments. As we pray to Him, we can feel His love for us and as we read the scriptures, we learn His will for us. And as we keep His commandments, He will testify to us that we are doing what He wants us to do and coming closer to Him. Show more Show less

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon Temples? What goes on in Mormon Temples?

Jace
In order to enter into the temple, one must be worthy and have reached a certain level of maturity. So not all members are allowed into the temple but we do desire that everyone prepares themselves to go to the temple. There is nothing secret going on in the temples just things that are sacred. In the temples, we make covenants or promises with God to do certain things and in return God promises us certain blessings. We also perform ordinances for those who have died. Show more Show less
