Hi I'm Jonathan

I live on an Isle of the sea and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a father of three great children. I love them very much. My wife and I were married fourteen years ago in the Washington Temple. I a manager of a hardware store which keeps me very busy. In my spare time I like to play hockey.

Why I am a Mormon

I was a member of other churches often searching for fullness or complete understanding. I never found that until a friend invited me to her church. It was there that I met a missionary couple that had great answers to some questions I had, such as, "what happens to those who never hear the gospel? " and "Has God left us alone to figure things out for ourselves?" The neat thing is, they never told me to just believe what they told me. They shared information and asked me to go home and pray about it. I received conformation by a spiritual burning in the bosom that was undeniable. Since then I have never looked back.

How I live my faith

I have had many callings or responsibilities within my small church group. I am now asked to serve as first councilor in the branch presidency. Sundays are special because it is my day devoted to church and family. The rest of the week I study scriptures, (Isaiah is my favorite), and try to be an example with friends and coworkers. I love sharing the gospel and work with the missionaries.

Why don’t Mormons have paid clergy?

Jonathan
I feel that we should not receive pay for sharing the gospel and living our lives as we should anyway. If money becomes the purpose of our serving, then it becomes diluted service, serving because we need to, and not necessarily putting God first. Show more Show less

What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

Jonathan
The more I read scriptures the closer I feel to God, my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. That closeness makes my want to improve myself and do better in all things. Show more Show less
