Hi I'm Rachel

Whether at home in the mountains or traveling the world - life is good, because I know who I am. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Contrary to what a lot of people think, we Mormons do dance. Dancing is probably my favorite physical activity. I did tap, ballet, and jazz when I was a kid. I continued on in Ballroom dance at college. I competed a lot and performed on my university (BYU) Ballroom Dance Team. Now that I've graduated, I really want to continue with this hobby. Anything from West Coast Swing to Salsa to Waltz- I just love to dance. I'll never win a record deal, but I also really enjoy playing and singing music on the piano and guitar. It helps me to de-stress after a long day. And everything is better while laughing with family and friends. My family is dearest to my heart. I am so grateful to my parents, gramma, aunt, brothers and sisters. They've given me so much and their love never ends. I'd do anything for them. Recently I returned from a volunteer mission for our church. I was blessed to serve in the wonderful land of Russia. The memories and lessons and friends that I made during that time have absolutely changed my life. I will never forget or regret the year and a half I spent there.

Why I am a Mormon

I know that I am a daughter of a Heavenly Father. He loves me. I have felt His love for me, deeply. And the more that I learn of Him, read His words, and live His gospel- the more I know that He is there. He has asked us to go to Him through prayer, to ask for truth and guidance. I did that. And He answered. That's why I am a Mormon. My mum and dad both joined the church before I was born, so I was raised with the gospel in my life. I don't regret any part of it. I love the peace and strength I feel from the knowledge and perspective that I have. I appreciated the standards and commandments given that help me make wise choices that keep me free. I've always been a bit of a perfectionist and I know, with my Savior Jesus Christ's help, I can be and do anything. I know that God's plan allows me to return to Him again.

How I live my faith

As I mentioned, I just returned from my mission in Moscow, Russia. Recently I was a Young Single Adult representative, where I helped plan and execute activities and events for the other young adults in our area. I also helped in the primary, teaching and helping the children. One of my favorite callings was as a personal progress advisor - I helped the young (teenage) women make goals and do projects to understand their worth, gain a testimony of the truth, and become more talented and accomplished. Those are the "organized" contributions I make through our church. But personally, I just want to live so that others can see my Savior through my example. He has helped me change and grow so much, I want everyone to be able to come to know Him as I have. And better.
