Hi I'm Lee, currently called Cestra

I'm a wife, mother, grandmother, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - I am a daughter of Heavenly parents

About Me

My husband and I are currently serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Dnepropetrovsk Ukraine. We work in our mission office doing whatever is needed. We feel very blessed to have been called to serve here in this amazing city and amazing country where the Church is very young. I am blessed to be the wife of a wonderful husband, to whom I have been married for almost 47 years, and yes, it does get better and better. Our love has grown beyond comprehension. We are blessed with seven children, 26 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. My family is key to the happiness in my life. I worked with deaf children for 25 years and have interpreted in church meetings. I also enjoy learning about the history of my family and helping others do the same. Doing this research has filled a large part of my life. I enjoy teaching in our church and in the community. I also enjoy making all my own cards for birthdays and other events.  My life is richly blessed and I see the Lord's hand in my life every day.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised by parents and grandparents who taught me the importance of family and about God. I learned to pray as a child and felt a close relationship to God from the time I was young. As a young adult I went searching for a church that would answer my questions about life and that believed that families could be united here and in the hereafter. When I learned that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints taught that families could be together forever I wanted to learn more. As I did, I felt the truth of what I was taught and joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. That has made all the difference in my life. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior and that He will do all He can to help me return to live again with Him and my Father in Heaven. I know my Father in Heaven knows who I am and cares about me. I know that Jesus Christ came to earth and after His death was resurrected and returned to live with my Father in Heaven and if I follow Jesus' example with His help I can do the same. Then I will be reunited with my family and live forever with Them.

How I live my faith

At work or at home, I try to keep the commandments and do the things that I think Jesus would do. I study to learn all I can about Him and to know those things that He did while he lived on the earth. It is not always easy but as I try to keep the commandments it becomes easier. It also helps that so many of my friends, members of the Mormon Church and others, have the same desire and so we work together. Also, it helps that every Saturday you will find me, with my husband, in our Church's temple where I can truly feel the Spirit of Jesus Christ.

Why do Mormons perform baptisms for the dead?

Lee, currently called Cestra
There are many people who have lived on the earth without knowing about the blessings that can be theirs if they are baptized. Many who could not have been baptized because of when or where they lived. Others who did not know during their lifetime. What a wonderful thing that they can have the blessing of baptism in the life after death with the help of those who are living now. There is no danger for those who might not want to be baptized as they still can choose to accept this blessing or not. However, I cannot imagine that after death when their eyes are opened that they would not want to have this blessing. Baptism for those who have died without being baptized is a great blessing in the Mormon Church, to the living and to the dead. Show more Show less

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Lee, currently called Cestra
There are many who believe that the world is here by chance - a fluke, but when I look around I know that there is no way chance could have created such miracles as I see everywhere I look. From the tiniest speck of dust to the largest animals on earth today - from the newest baby to the oldest person alive - from the tiny seed to the tall oak tree - from the sun to the moon to the stars and the mountains and clouds and grass and trees. All is miraculous and a testimony that a power greater than all of us is over all around us. Truly the world is overseen by a great power - that power is our Father in Heaven and His Son Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
