Hi I'm Cole

I love music, family, writing, and useless trivia facts. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Washington state for the most part, but now live in Colorado. I've also lived in Utah, Oregon, and Montana. I served my mission in Raleigh, NC and absolutely loved it. I love The Beatles, and just music in general. My favorite genres are probably classic rock, with the occasional splash of 80's, grunge, and modern stuff. I like to play around on the piano and guitar, and like to sing as well. I also love sports, and am a die-hard Denver Broncos fan. My other allegiances lie with the Utah Jazz, BYU Cougars, and just Ray Allen. I like to play soccer and basketball, but will play just about anything as long as I'm with a fun group. I'm also pretty good at air hockey. I love movies, TV, history, journalism, and knowledge. I do everything I can to know as much as I can about everything I can. How's that for a nonsense sentence. I like to write and read, and enjoy spending time with friends and family. I love spaghetti, cookies, and chocolate. I am also adamant that Batman is and will forever will be the ultimate super-hero. Recently my brother and I have started a blog, and enjoy writing about many diverse and trivial topics. I love lists.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church, and both of my parents did too, so the church goes back pretty far in my family. As we moved around in my teenage years, my beliefs were really put to the test for the first time as we lived in a place with few members. It was then that I began to realize that I truly did believe for myself and wasn't just piggy-backing off my parents. As I was mocked or questioned, I never once really questioned it. I was embarrassed at times, but I couldn't deny that the Church was true. As I continued to grow, I experienced the blessings of the Restored Gospel in my life directly, as I applied the Savior's Atonement and relied on Him to get through difficulties. As I see the blessings that come from obedience to the Gospel, my testimony grows and grows. That's why I'm a Mormon, because I've tested it and seen the beautiful blessings that come.  I don't have the answers to all the questions, and can't claim that I don't still go through difficulties everyday, but I love being Mormon and know that it means everything to me.

How I live my faith

I don't profess to be perfect, but I do try to live the gospel and correct my mistakes when I make them. I love my family and try my best to serve them and make our home a place of love and unity. Here's some thoughts I had a year ago while I was on my mission: I'm currently living my faith by putting all aspects of my life college, friends, family on hold and serving a full-time mission for the Church on the opposite side of the country. I love it. This last year has probably been the hardest year of my life, but also the most rewarding. Seeing the Gospel change and enrich peoples' lives has bean a priceless experience. I know even more surely now that this is the Lord's church. I'll be honest, riding my bike around in city traffic, getting honked at, and knocking doors aren't my favorite things in the world, but they're all worth it because I know I HAVE to share this Gospel with other people. On my mission I've grown more than any other time in my life. I've prayed harder than ever, worked harder than ever, suffered more than ever, and experienced more joy and triumph than any other time. And by what can only be described as a modern miracle, I've even been able to learn a little bit of Spanish.

What is the First Vision?

The First Vision was an event that has changed the world. A young boy named Joseph Smith had a simple question which church is true? He looked and looked, and read and read, but couldn't come to any conclusion, so he followed the advice of James in the Bible, and took his question to God. Due to his outstanding faith, our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph, and the heavens were opened again. Due to this, the true church of Christ has been restored, and the priesthood power of God is again on the earth. Show more Show less
