Hi I'm Helen

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was raised in Cornwall, lived in The Netherlands for a year and now live in the north of England. I have a degree in English and worked as a manager for a health and beauty store for several years. I enjoy being with my family and friends, watching films and socialising. I love all sports (watching and playing), especially netball, and have a passion for music, especially singing.

Why I am a Mormon

I am enthusiastic about life and this comes from belief that God is my loving Heavenly Father, that Jesus is the Christ and that the Holy Ghost is my ultimate companion. Knowing who I am and why I am here has given me so much happiness and peace in my life, and had helped me to do my best whether in my studies or at work. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I prayed and I asked God if the Book of Mormon was His word and if Joseph Smith was His prophet called to restore the truth. My prayer was answered and I knew in an overwhelming way that it was all true. I know that whoever prays and asks God for themselves will receive the same answer.

How I live my faith

I am grateful that the Church is organised perfectly and offers me so many opportunities to serve and to increase in understanding and love. My favourite way to serve is something we call "visiting teaching". I am assigned a companion, another lady, to come out with me and we visit 5 assigned ladies each month. We offer help and a listening ear, and build friendships. Two ladies also come and visit me each month. In the area that I live I am responsible for all of the 12-18 year old young women. I teach them at Church on Sunday and we have activities during the week. During the year we also go camping and organise dances and other activities with youth from the surrounding areas. I was also able to serve as a missionary for the Church for 18 months.
