Hi I'm Sharla

I'm a farmer's daughter. I play clarinet in a local symphony. I am a runner. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up on a wheat farm in Idaho. I learned to work hard, move irrigation pipe, clear rocks, and drive a tractor. Sunsets, mountains, and stars are three things that make me happy. Music has always been a big part of my life. I play clarinet in a local community symphony. I enjoy running and my goal is to do a 10k for the first time this year. I love being a mother. I have four kids and a hardworking husband. It's definitely not always easy, but it's worth it.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because as I continue to attend church, study the scriptures, and pray I feel at peace, and I feel the love of my Savior Jesus Christ comforting me and helping me through my trials. I was born into a family where living with faith, attending church, and serving others were a big part of our lives. As a teenager I studied the Book of Mormon on my own and attended Seminary, a weekday class for youth to gain more understanding of our faith. Through my studies and through prayer I came to know for myself that the Book of Mormon is true and that Joseph Smith was a Prophet of God.

How I live my faith

I pray daily and study the scriptures. Although it is chaotic at times (OK most of the time), my husband and I try to read a few verses of scripture with our 4 young children each evening. I sometimes wonder how much the children are getting from this, but they know that the scriptures are important to us and I cherish the times when we do have a peaceful experience and they ask questions about what we're reading. I want them to gain a love for the word of God as I have in my life. I attend church weekly. I play the organ at church and also accompany the church choir on the piano. I visit my neighbors and serve them. I also love attending the temple and worshiping there.
