Hi I'm Derek

I'm a Mormon, a husband, a stay-at-home dad and firm believer in the 5-second rule.

About Me

My wife and I are the proud parents of the most adorable kid on earth. My wife is currently a full-time medical student and strikingly beautiful. As if life couldn't get any better, after finishing my bachelor's degree I started a full-time job as a stay at home dad.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because every good thing in my life has come as a result of following the teachings of the gospel. Both of my parents were members of the church and their faith and examples inspired me to strive for the same blessings in my life. Over the course of my life I have tried and tested the tenets of the church and found strength and hope in following them.

How I live my faith

I strive to serve those around me and help in anyway I can. I pray earnestly and try my best to think the best of others. Although I often fail to live up to my potential, I am always able to look to the Atonement of Christ for solace and forgiveness. By following Christ in word and deed I find the peace and joy only he can give.

What do Mormons believe about the nature of God?

Derek
I think the single most important thing we believe about God is that he is our Father. As our Father, God love us and wants us to progress and reach our full potential, but more than anything he wants us to be happy. Much like an earthly father sending a child away to college, God knew that we needed to come to this earth to progress and be happy, but he also knew that on earth we would learn difficult lessons that often involve pain, loss, sorrow, guilt, regret and every other negative thing you can imagine. Lovingly, God sent his son Jesus Christ to Atone for our sins and take upon himself all the consequences of those sins as well as all the sickness and tragedy and sorrow and all other painful experiences we have in this life. By looking to God and His Son, we are able to find peace and joy in forgiveness from sin and comfort in sorrow. God loves you. And that is the most important thing you will ever learn.
