Hi I'm Mike

I'm a doctor and a Mormon.

About Me

Hi, I'm Mike. I'm mostly just a normal guy. I'm in a family medicine training program and I'm in the military. I like hiking, fishing, rock-climbing, baking (sourdough bread, cookies, and any other sweet), photography, and just hanging out with my awesome wife.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were Mormon so naturally I grew up going to church. I learned the doctrine very well in primary (Sunday-school) and was baptized when I was 8 years old. But, I wasn't truly converted until I was about 16 years old. At that time I began to study the scriptures and to pray earnestly to know if God was real, if the Bible and/or Book of Mormon were true and if the Lord had a church on the earth today. At that time I learned from the Holy Ghost that Jesus Christ was real, that he loved me, that he atoned for my sins, and that he had appeared to Joseph Smith (the first Mormon prophet) to establish his church again in our time with prophets and apostles. So, I'm a Mormon because God answered my prayer many years ago and told me that this is right!

How I live my faith

Living as a Mormon is not hard, in fact it's a lot of fun. One thing I love is that whenever the military moves us we automatically have a group of friends in our new location. Although the people are different, the doctrines are the same, the meeting structure is the same, and most importantly the spirit that I feel is the same.

What are Mormon Temples used for?

The temple is my refuge from the storms of life. I go there when I need to be close to my heavenly father. I go there when I am depressed and need to be uplifted. I go there when I need the strength to withstand temptation. I go there when I am struggling with big life decisions and I need to pray for direction. I go there with my wife to remember the covenants we made when we were married. I go there to serve others... When I go I always feel better, I always feel closer to my Heavenly Father, I often receive answers to my prayers and I always feel stronger in facing life's challenges. Show more Show less
