Hi I'm Bryce

Life and all its little details fascinate me. I like to understand why things are. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I’m a student, and like many I’m working to pay my way through school. So right now I work construction and am studying to become a Civil Engineer. I enjoy camping, traveling, exploring and just about anything outdoors. If I had to choose a favorite it would be a meaningful late night conversation, and if it were around a campfire all the better! As the youngest of five I also enjoy being an uncle. With ten little nephews and nieces it gives me an excuse to be silly and get away with it.

Why I am a Mormon

“Why?” was my favorite word as a kid, it still probably is. So naturally I question lots of things. Well in my late teens and early twenties I found myself with too many questions and too few answer that really made sense, trust me it's not a good feeling. I hungered for understanding! I stopped focusing so much on what I thought I wanted, and began asking, what is truth? I felt an overwhelming sensation that God existed and that I had been hiding from Him, so for the first time in my life I began to pray and asked for guidance. Sometime after my mom invited me to read The Book of Mormon, I did so privately with out letting her, or anyone else know. As I did I began to question, could this really be true? I continued to read and pray, asking God for answers. Little by little I began to find specific answers to my questions in its pages, that feeling of hunger left and my soul was nourished. I know that within The Book of Mormon are the words of Christ and that through it God answers prayers.

How I live my faith

I have found that just like my body, my spirit has needs. Without food, sleep and exercise my body feels drained, or empty. Just as real, I have sometimes felt a spiritual emptiness or void. For my spirit the strength, guidance and satisfaction comes as I talk with my Father in Heaven through prayer, receive counsel by studying the teachings of Christ in The Book of Mormon, and then serving and doing what He expects me to. Just like I need to eat everyday to sustain myself, I make a daily effort to feed and exercise my soul. It is amazing how through living the gospel in these, and other ways, the Lord has nurtured me, and blessed me with peace and joy! Apart from these efforts, some of my current service opportunities in the church include, being a leader in our Boy Scout Troop which is great fun. I also participate in create opportunities for meaningful service, gospel learning, and social activities for local college age youth.
