Hi I'm a girl named Jac.

I'm a college student (again). I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Jac which is short for Jacqueline, a name that is commonly shortened to Jackie. But since I don't like going by Jackie I introduce myself as Jac, and yes I do get a lot of weird looks when I say that. I am from the heart and soul of the Mormon State, but since I have been married, my husband and I have traveled a lot for his job. I enjoy gardening. My husband and I recently moved from an apartment to a single family home and the biggest perk was having a yard to call our own. We grow veggies, flowers, herbs and even have a family apple tree. We have one dog. I love animals. I teach the early morning scripture study class for the youth in my ward that go to the local high school (often called seminary). I love the opportunity to help them learn more about their Savior. I recently went back to school to get my bachelors degree. They asked us the first day of class to say our name and something interesting about us. I said it had been 10 years since I had been a college freshman. I was in college for about 2 and 1/2 years at which time I took a break to serve a mission. When I got home, I met my husband, who was a senior and we got married and moved across the country to go medical school. So I've been waiting a long time to get back and finish my degree. Currently I am pursuing a degree in Political Science, but it may change tomorrow.

Why I am a Mormon

Even though I've been a member my whole life, I think everyone who is raised a Mormon has to make a conscious choice to be a believer. I made the choice because I know that I am a daughter of God and that Jesus Christ is my Savior and I have felt their love. I know that Joseph Smith is a prophet and that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. Some people talk about having a huge "aha!" experience when they knew the truth, but mine has been a steady growth. When I look back on my life and see the way Lord has worked in it, I feel the reassurance that I am in the right place.

How I live my faith

Since my faith is founded on the Savior, I live my faith by trying to live the way he did. By reading the scriptures, I come to know more about who he is and the way he treated others. I try to treat others the way he would by serving them, taking dinners to a family where a new baby has arrived or encouraging others to keep going in their faith. I live my faith by taking on responsibilities that help the ward I live in function so the members can build each other up and the church can progress. I am not always perfect in my execution, and sometimes it is hard, if I continue to do my best, I know the Lord will give me the strength that I need to keep going.

Who founded Mormonism and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

a girl named Jac.
Who started the Mormon church? That would be Jesus Christ. But after the apostles died the authority was taken from the earth and the teachings of Christ became distorted by the interpretations of men. The Church in its fullness was restored by Joseph Smith starting in 1820 when God the Father and Jesus Christ appeared to him in Palmyra, NY. Show more Show less
