Hi I'm Clayton

I really like being a Mormon.

About Me

I love science and understanding the way the world and universe works. I enjoy listening to others who have different perspectives on life and who may have something to teach me. I also enjoy playing tennis and used to do a lot of water skiing. I have 6 children, 3 who are married, 2 who are in college and 1 who passed away almost 9 years ago.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Mormon church and have been active in it my whole life. Almost all of my family are very active in the Mormon church as well. However, I do not go to or participate in the Church because of my family. I participate because I really believe in the principles taught by the Mormon Church and because I love going to church. I feel like I am learning a lot and it just feels good to live the teachings of Jesus Christ. I also love to have great friends in my local church. They are a great support to me and my family. Their children have been good examples for mine, and visa versa. I am spurred forward by the good things that my friends do. I love the Book of Mormon. It has changed my life for the good over many many years. It's doctrine is completely compatible with the Bible. I have felt the Holy Spirit tell me that it teachings are true many, many times over my lifetime. Some of those times have been very strong - so strong that I cannot deny them. I also have a strong faith in prayer. God has answered many prayers on my behalf over the years. I really have confidence that the true teachings of Jesus Christ (his gospel) was restored in its purest form through the Prophet Joseph Smith in the early 1800s. Joseph Smith was called as a Prophet to restore Christ's church, re-clarify his teachings, receive new doctrine and provide a continuation of the church which Christ established when he lived on the earth. I believe that the church that Christ established was lost and changed during the first couple of hundred years after his death. I love the Mormon church and I am proud and grateful to be a part of it. I hope that my children will follow the teachings of this great church.

How I live my faith

I try to live the teachings of Jesus Christ. I don't do it perfectly, but I am striving to do better each year. I enjoy reading the scriptures almost every day. I feel that it lifts my spirit and teaches me the way that I should go. I pray a few times each day as well. I feel direction and comfort when I pray. I have realized that I am not as smart as I thought I was. I need the extra help from God and from his Holy Spirit. I also serve as the Assistant Scout Master in my church and am a Youth Leader for the 12-13 year old young men on Sundays. I love working with these good young men, who are just starting to learn about faith in the Lord and His way. I learn much from them. I try to tell others who are interested about the church, because I have received great blessings from my decision to participate in the church.
