Hi I'm Randa

I love sports plus dancing. I'm a teacher because P.E. and nerding out about how much I love awesome history.

About Me

I teach 6th graders in an elementary school. I grew up on a small ranch in Colorado so I love animals, outdoors, fixing things, and working hard. I love playing sports, and have learned to play most of them well enough to keep up. (Volleyball, basketball, tennis, softball, soccer... love it.) After I graduated college and taught for 1 year I had enough money saved up to do something I wanted to do just for fun. I ended up going to Australia and enjoyed the east coast. The next year I was able to visit Costa Rica with some former roommates. Beautiful country full of wonderful people. Clearly I love traveling. I've been blessed to see the Czeech Republic, Austria, and Hungary.

Why I am a Mormon

I love the way the church helps us live the gospel. None of us are perfect at this, but if you look at all the organization, meetings, and programs they help. I love that this is a gospel for any kind of person. We are not all asked to become the same person, just to show what kindness, strength, and understanding we can develop. I found myself up late at nights alone reading my scriptures to fulfill commitments. Those turned into tender memories of seeing truths, connections, and feeling my Heavenly Father's approval. My experience and conversion have all followed a similar pattern. I make the commitments and work hard to keep them even when I'm unsure. Time has allowed these to work in my heart and become knowledge and strengths I hold to. My family's examples of imperfect people working over time to gradually change and continue to become the wonderful people that surround me. I know that Heavenly Father knows who I am. He has watched out for me at ALL times. Even though things aren't always easy and life still has its tragedies, I have never been abandoned. The temple is one of my favorite places. I love how it has shown me how much Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ have invested in us. Through their efforts together, we truly can return to live and become as our Heavenly Father is. I know that families are the source of greatest happiness. We are not always in situations where they are that happiness yet, but those tender relationships are where that happiness will always be. The Book of Mormon has been a source of spiritual strength as I read it. The Lord has taught me more there than I can ever express. The prophets of the church know what we need to hear and do. Their words have protected me and blessed my life Every time I listen.

How I live my faith

I have a routine set up so that first thing in the morning I read from the Book of Mormon. I normally try to read 1 chapter. Then with whatever time I have left over, I try to read from other standard works in our church (like The King James version of the Old Testament and New Testament, Doctrine in Covenants), church manuals, Ensign magazine articles. I attend all 3 meetings at church every sunday (Sacrament Meeting, Sunday School, and Relief Society). In the church we can accept callings that are like special assignments and responsibilities such as coordinating a welcoming committee, being in a presidency for relief society, being in charge of groups that meet for a spiritual thought and activity (fhe), and visiting teaching where you are assigned certain sisters to watch out for and uplift.
