Hi I'm Marci

I'm a wife, a mom, an avid reader, and a Food Network fan. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love reading, scrapbooking, card making, piano playing, and solving sudoku puzzles! My kitchen is my favorite room in my house, and I love Food Network. I married my best friend in 2010 and we love playing MarioKart, going on walks (when it isn't too hot outside), cooking together and laughing! We have an adorable little girl who keeps us on our toes.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family that was active in The Church but I was 14 when I read The Book of Mormon on my own and could say that I knew the church was true. As I searched and pondered on the words in The Book of Mormon the spirit touched my heart in a way that I couldn't describe. As I study the scriptures and say my prayers I feel love from my Heavenly Father. That love helps me as I face the difficulties of life as a wife and a student.

How I live my faith

I serve in my congregation by accompanying a few of the different choirs that we have--our youth choir, womens choir, and sometimes for families who are sharing their musical talents with us.

How are the activities of the Mormon missionaries funded?

Mormon missionaries pay for themselves to serve. They work hard to earn the required money and sometimes receive assistance from their parents. The message that they share with those they meet on their missions is so important to them that it is completely worth the cost of serving! Show more Show less

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

Absolutely! We believe that families will be together forever! Isn't that such an exciting thought? We believe that we will live together for all eternity. A sacred ordinance is performed in our holy temples that seals a husband and wife together forever, and the children that come into that home are sealed to their parents and each other as an eternal family! This is especially meaningful to those who may lose a child or a loved one, as we believe that we will be reunited with them once we pass on. Show more Show less

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

The Word of Wisdom is a health code that Joseph Smith received from God in 1833. The Word of Wisdom teaches us about proper eating and the importance of partaking in grains, fruits and vegetables, as well as a warning against the use of addictive and harmful substances. We are to avoid tobacco, alcohol, coffee, and illegal drugs for the addictive and harmful effects that they cause on our health. In The Word of Wisdom we are also promised blessings (physical and spiritual) for upholding this code that include good health, the ability to run and not be weary, and a mind that is clear. When The Word of Wisdom was first given, it did not all make sense to the members of the church as the scientific community did not have the same guidelines, but now they are coming to recognize the harmful effects of tobacco, alcohol and illegal drugs. Why is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints called Mormons or Mormonism?

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the official name of our church, and has been since 1838. Mormons is a nickname that has been given to us by others because we believe in The Book of Mormon. Show more Show less

What is the Relief Society?

The Relief Society is the women's organization in our church. Women 18 and older participate in Relief Society, where we learn and develop the skills that are required to strengthen families and homes, help those who stand in need of help, and build faith. Show more Show less

Can you tell me about Mormon customs: how you dress for church, what holidays you celebrate, etc.?

When we attend our church services, most members wear their "Sunday best" which means suits, or dress slacks and a shirt and tie for the men, and skirts or dresses for the women. The children dress similarly, although not all the little boys will wear a tie or a suit jacket. We celebrate Christmas and Easter, celebrating the life of Jesus Christ. We also celebrate the national holidays of our countries, as well as birthdays and anniversaries. Show more Show less
