Hi I'm Travis

I am an outdoor enthusiast, Wyoming native, and Nurse Anesthetist. I'm a Husband, and father of 5 girls. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a 36 year old father of 5 wonderful girls. I love taking them outdoors hunting, fishing, and just hanging out. I know that it is a roller-coaster at times in our home but it makes my day when I get a little hug and a whisper "I love you daddy." I work in a rural Ohio hospital as a Nurse Anesthetist. I have always been fascinated with health and helping people through physical trials. I try to be healthy and stay active to keep up with all my pig-tailed girls.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in Wyoming in a typical small western town. I had moved away and went to nursing school in Wisconsin at a Christian College. I was not a member of any church. I moved to live with my sister after college in North Carolina and knew that I needed to find the right church. In every church I visited it seemed something was missing. I have extended family members that are Mormons, but I never had the opportunity as a youth to learn much about the church or attend. This was my chance! I was studying for nursing boards and had wanted to know if the Church was true. I went to the Church building, found the missionaries, and listened to the missionary discussions. I was baptized a month or so later as a 23 year old post graduate. I finally knew and understood who I was, a child of a loving Heavenly Father who sent his Son Jesus Christ to earth to make the way possible for me to become cleansed from all my sins. I had never felt such peace in my life and started from that day forward striving to do my best to live the teachings found in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I know that I am not perfect and that is where faith, repentance, and relying on the love and mercy of my Savior continually makes it possible to stay clean and on the path back to my Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

I serve in church as the Branch President which is the presiding priesthood leader in the congregation. I strive to lead by example, invite others to come unto Christ, and receive the full blessings of the Gospel. I love visiting the homes of others and helping them feel the spirit. I love shoveling snow, chopping wood, and helping others who are having difficulties. I find joy in gardening and dropping of fresh vegetables to my friends, family, and community members. I strive to have others always see the Saviors love through my example.

Why do Mormons perform proxy baptisms in their temples?

Baptism is a sacred ordinance. Jesus himself set the example by being baptized by John the Baptist. As members of the church we follow His example by being baptized by immersion for the remission of our sins. People who lived on the earth and did not have the opportunity to be baptized into Christ's church can be baptized by proxy in sacred temples. Proxy means that members of the church go to the temple and are baptized for the person who has died. They stand in the water and are baptized in behalf of those who have passed on. It is performed the same manner for those alive on the earth. We believe that all people will have the opportunity to hear and accept the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Proxy baptisms make it possible for those who have died without being baptized while alive on the earth to have this ordinance performed for them. Show more Show less
