Hi I'm Stefan

I love to laugh and am a news junkie. I study chemical engineering and find afternoon naps most enjoyable. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a junior in college studying chemical engineering. On any given day, I might be caught playing guitar or rocking out to songs on the radio. I love to play ultimate frisbee with family and friends. I love to study and read about all things math and science related. I am optimistic about the future. I want to work in the energy industry. I believe that the most important role I will fulfill in this life is that of husband and father. I have a strong desire to use my skills as a chemical engineer to serve those around me, through a non-profit organization.

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I a Mormon? Why am I a Christian? These two questions are inextricably linked together in my mind. I was not present to witness the mortal ministry of Jesus Christ. I never saw him preach his gospel or perform miracles, yet by the power of the Holy Ghost, I have received a spiritual confirmation of his reality and divinity. As Paul taught the Corinthians, "No man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the power of the Holy Ghost" (1 Corinth. 12:3). This witness by and through the Holy Ghost is how I came to know that Jesus Christ is my Lord and Redeemer and by his grace I can be made clean and changed for the better. My parents are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but this simple fact does not explain why I am a member of this church. I am a member because I have read the Book of Mormon and prayed to God to know if it is true. In response to that prayer, I felt a divine confirmation that yes, the book was true- it was written by prophets of old and translated by the gift and power of God through Joseph Smith. This confirmation came into my heart from that same familiar Spirit that bore witness to me of Christ and his reality. The doctrines of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints bring joy, peace, direction, and purpose to my life.

How I live my faith

I study the scriptures daily and pray often to grow closer to God and understand His will. I try to live my life in harmony with the teaching of Jesus Christ. I spent 2 years in Brazil sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ and helping families to strengthen their faith in Christ. As a chemical engineering student and a lover of science, I am well acquainted with loud secular voices that dismiss religion and faith in general as plain, foolish nonsense. I find no inconsistencies in my personal life, being both a scientist and a man of faith.

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

The purpose of life is to be tested and tried so that we can prove ourselves faithful and develop our faith in Jesus Christ. During our life we will face trials and challenges so we can grow and learn to rely on God and exercise our faith in Jesus Christ. Through experience we must learn to choose between good and evil, following Christ's perfect example and keeping His commandments. Show more Show less
