Hi I'm Gary

I'm a waffle-making dad; I'm a accountant; and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have four fantastic children who like it when I make waffles on Saturday mornings. I have a wonderful wife who doesn't like to clean up after me when I make waffles on Saturday mornings. We love to spend time together as a family playing games, watching movies and traveling to visit other family members. After graduating from college with an accounting degree, I worked in public accounting for a few years and have worked for a major telecommunciations company for over 20 years. I'm a college basketball sports fan and l enjoying watching as many games as I can, especially during March Madness (while eating Girl Scout cookies).

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because the Holy Ghost has let me know that this Church really is led by Jesus Christ, the Son of God and our Savior. I was raised as a member of this Church and enjoyed participating in the various organizations (i.e. children's organization, youth organizaiton and so forth) as a young person. While a teenager I accepted the invitation found in the scriptures to pray and ask God if this church and its' teachings are really true (i.e.. that God had directed the organization of the Church and that the Church is "His" Church). I was lucky enough to receive a spiritual witness that God lives, that Jesus is God's Son and my Savior, that Joseph Smith is a prophet of God (just like Noah and Moses in the Old Testament); and, that the Lord has prophets on the earth today. I also learned that God is the Father of my spirit and that He has a plan me and for all His children. This plan includes the possibility that I can live with my family and with God after I die. I know this Church will help me and my family as we try to live our lives in a way that will allow us to return to God. I also know, through the Holy Ghost, that this Church has the authority of God that allows me to receive saving ordinances while on the earth that will allow me return to live eternally with my family and God. I am very grateful for that spiritual witness from God. It is a wonderful gift from a loving God that makes all the difference in my life.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith each and everyday. I try to take tme each day to read something from the scriptures and to learn more about my Savior, Jesus Christ. I also try to pattern my life after the Savior by looking for opportunities to help others. I try to take time each day to communicate with my Heavenly Father through prayer and to listen for his answers and guidance. As a family we also try to read scriptures together and prayer together each day. We love to spend time together as a family and engage in a weekly Family Night. I also try to stay very involved with the Church by serving in positions/organizations that the Church leaders request. There are youth activities each week (including Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts) that our children look forward to and that I enjoy being able to help with. Sundays are a day I look forward to each week when we go to church as a family and worship God, our Father, and His Son, Jesus Christ. It is always an uplifting experience to worship with friends and neighbors who have similar beliefs and faith. It is a wonderful blessing to have a "church family" close by since we live far away from our immediate families.
