Hi I'm Shawnee

I am a wife and a mother. I love to sing, snowboard, and eat my dessert first. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am the youngest of eight children and loved growing up in a big family! I grew up in a pretty small town, but I loved every minute of it! Growing up in Southern UT really helped me appreciate the outdoors. I love to hike, camp, wakeboard, water ski, snowboard, go shotgun shooting...you name it! I also love to perform and have been doing so since I was a little girl. I was in a performing group at the university I attended, and I also competed in many pageants where I held a few local titles. My husband, Tyson, also enjoys singing/performing, and we continue to perform together at various occasions. However, my greatest accomplishment is my son, Benson. And although life has changed since becoming a mother, each day brings a new adventure with him and my sweet husband, and I wouldn't trade these precious moments for anything!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true. When I live the principals of this gospel, there is peace and direction in my life. I have a greater understanding of my purpose here, the life hereafter, and the love my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ have for me. I have a greater understanding of the Atonement of Jesus Christ, and how it is central to my eternal happiness and salvation. I am a Mormon because I believe in modern day revelation which we receive through a modern day Prophet, President Thomas S. Monson. I believe that the Lord gives us guidance and council especially for us and for our time through a living prophet. The Lord loves us and wants us to be happy and to return to his presence, and he has provided a way for that to happen through his Son Jesus Christ and through the restoration of this gospel.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by attending my church meetings regularly. I participate in my ward Choir, and I am the secretary and an adviser to the young women in the ward (ages 12-18 years). I get to teach the young women twice a month and attend weekly activities for them. I am also assigned to visit teach other sisters in the ward and enjoy my monthly visit with them. I attend the temple with my husband. I also pray daily and read and study the scriptures. In general, I just try to be an honest and good person. Of course, I am only human and make my share of mistakes....but I think what is important is that we try our hardest to be the best we can be.
