Hi I'm Mercedes

I am grateful for temples and the knowledge of an eternal family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was pretty much born into the church but didn't become that active until my youth years. I enjoy sports, maybe a little too much. My favorites are basketball and volleyball. I could play those two all day. I also enjoy watching sports. I play the piano, and scrapbook. My husband and I have been sealed for time and all eternity. What a great blessing it is to have temples. In 2007, I competed in a Hmong pageant against 15 other girls from around the world, and I won. I am known as the 2008 Miss Hmong International. It was a year filled with service and community work. I enjoyed every bit of it. I love working with people, and finding ways to help improve our world. If I could give anything to those who are less fortunate, it would be the Gospel of Jesus Christ, because as poor as we may be or feel sometimes, having the gospel in our lives makes us feel rich and happy.

Why I am a Mormon

I am Mormon because I love everything about being one. When you read the Book Of Mormon and you study it, and you really understand it, then will you know that this church is true. The standards that are given us to keep are the best standards that we can possibly apply to our lives to keep us happy. I know that I don't need to dress immodestly to get attention, or to love myself. I know that I am beautiful regardless, and that modesty is the best way to really tell if someone loves you for you and not just for your looks. With every standard that the church has, there's a big blessing that comes from it, and if you really try, and understand why that standard is a standard, it will be a lot easier for you to accept it and apply it to your life.

How I live my faith

I love serving in the church. I've worked with primary, held music callings, and now I get the opportunity to serve the youth. I'm currently the 2nd counselor to the young women in my Ward, and also the personal progress advisor. I've always enjoyed working with the youth. I feel like during these times, you really determine who you are, and who you want to be, and your youth years are the most crucial years in developing your testimony. I live by example. Sometimes we don't have the right words to say, or we don't know the right moves to make when trying to teach someone the gospel, but if you live and breath the teachings of this church wherever you go, people will know where you stand, and who you stand for. I love knowing that wherever I go, and whatever I do, I am a daughter of God, and that through my actions, people may be able to see him and his works.

What is faith?

Faith is to "hope for things which are not seen which are true." It means believing in something that you can not physically touch or see, but something you know is there. Show more Show less
