Hi I'm Marlise

I am a wife, a mom, a stepmom, a massage therapist, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 6 feet tall, and I love it! :) I love basketball, dancing, music, running, cooking, family trips and get-togethers, photography, and learning new things (including lanugages). I am the middle of 7 kids and can honestly say that they, along with my parents, have always been my best friends. I grew up in Southern California, Hawaii, and Lake Tahoe, Nevada. I went to college, graduating in Early Childhood Education. I served a mission for the LDS Church in Hong Kong, and had an amazing experience. I lived out in DC for a few years. I went to massage therapy school and worked in chiropractic offices. I continue to have my own private practice. I got married in April 2007 (at age 30) to my best friend and the perfect match for me! He had 2 kids from a previous marriage, and we have them 100% of the time--so I call them my "bonus kids". I gave birth to a boy in July of 2008, and then to a girl in September of 2009, and we added another boy in September 2011. I love being a mother! I love my family! I love the direction and guidance the Gospel of Jesus Christ blesses me with!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know it is the true church of Jesus Christ. Because the teachings of this Church help me to know who I am, what purpose there is to my life, and helps me to find hope, meaning, peace, and comfort in life and the world around me. Because I have felt the spirit so many times, and I want to always have that influence in my life. I was raised in the church and have always been grateful for the foundation and perspective it blesses me with. It has helped me to come to know our Heavenly Father and Savior better, and continues to do so. I know that being a member of this church, and having the blessings of the Gospel in my life, is the greatest gift!!

How I live my faith

Within our church congregation, I currently get to serve and help all the children (up to age 12). I get to be involved in their Sunday School time and see them excited about singing, learning, and being together. Along with three other women, I get to help discuss the needs of the children in our church group and try to highlight their achievements and successes and identify how we can help and support them and their families in the challenges they may face. Also, every month I get to visit with a few different women from our congregation (it's part of a program called visiting teaching). Through meeting with them and getting to know them, we also try to help or assist with any needs that they have. That could be bringing a meal when there has been some challenge in the family or just being a good listener and friend, when that is needed. I really enjoy getting to know them more and finding a friend in each of them. I also appreciate the women who come and visit me--the support and thoughtfulness they have shown when I have had a baby, needed a ride for my kids and wasn't able to do it, etc. It's such a blessing to have that support!
