Hi I'm Lenzy

I'm a second generation Mormon.

About Me

I am a second generation member of the LDS Church. My mother joined the church in the early 1970's. She married my dad, who joined the church not long after that. I was raised in the church, and have many fond memories of being at church and church activities. I was married for about five years. My ex-wife was and still is an active church member. Although originally from Texas, I currently reside in West Virginia.

Why I am a Mormon

Those of us who have been raised in the LDS Church, at some time in our adolescence or post adolescence have to also decide for ourselves if the LDS Church lives up to its wondrous message. In short, is it real? Are there really modern day scriptures, prophets, and apostles? I am a skeptic. I question everything. My close friends tell me I am a pessimist. "Not so! I am a realist!" I always retort. I simply call it like I see it. And I have seen much, and felt much. I have witnessed the power of God. I have seen His hand work in my life. He is not the angry God that many in standard Christendom make Him out to be. He is kind, gentle and compassionate. He allows me to find my own way, giving me gentle nudges when I get too far off track. We are all tried and tested. In those dark times of my life, I have had my knowledge of the truth of the Book of Mormon to fall back on. I know the Church is real. Joseph Smith was a Prophet. Christ lives, He is risen. This knowledge carries me through the hard times, grounds me in the reality of the Eternities. After all, when death ceases to be a mystery, what else is there to fear?

How I live my faith

I try to be the type of friend I wish to have. I try to go the extra mile to help when it is needed. I live life by an old saying that my Bishop told me when I was in Young Men's. He told me "Lenzy, people don't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." It has turned out to be true. You can tell someone something until you are blue in the face. Chances are, they will not listen to you until you have served them. Once you have taken time to show them that you honestly care, then they will listen.

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

Lucifer has never been more powerful than he is right now. We are living in the last days prophesied in the scriptures. God, in His eternal wisdom, knew how strong the power of Lucifer would be in our day. To prepare for this, God has again established His kingdom on the earth one last time prior to the second coming. He has sent us The Book of Mormon. The Prophets in the this holy book saw our day, and left specific teachings there, just for us. These teachings alone, along with the Bible, are still not enough. God knows us. He knows we need more. He knows we need a leader. So He also sent us a modern day Prophet. The Prophet receives modern revelation, and has the same authority as the prophets of old did. The Prophet then leads and guides us, warning us of things to come. There has never been a greater need for a Prophet of God than today. We have never needed God's guidance more than we do now. Because God loves us, and wants us to return to live with him, He has given us the Book of Mormon, and a Prophet to lead and guide us. We need these things now more than ever, to fight the increasing powers of Darkness.  Show more Show less
