Hi I'm Pam McLain

I'm a Mormon. I grew up in south Mississippi and attended a Congregational Methodist church with my family.

About Me

I am a mother of five, four boys and a girl, five grandchildren, two boys and three girls, and three on the way. My husband and I have been married for 36 years. All four of our boys earned their Eagle Scout Award in the Boy Scouts of America. We moved to Athens, GA in 1985 for a teaching position for my husband. He later earned his Doctrate Degree in Science Education. I am a professional mom and homemaker. I have spent my life raising kids, shopping sales, and saving money. I have enjoyed all the hats I've worn, but I'm really enjoying watching our children be adults. They are some of our best friends. They keep us young and also give us joy, and grandchildren. Yeah!

Why I am a Mormon

After being introduced to the Mormon church in my early 20's, I knew I was interested. What a comforting teaching that 'Families Can Be Together Forever'. I loved my family dearly, and wanted to know more. After reading the Book of Mormon and hearing the sweet Joseph Smith story, I had to pray to know if this could possibly be true. My answer came with the warmth and peace that only the Holy Spirit can bring. I have never regretted my decision to join the Lord's church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. A living prophet on the earth today, the priesthood authority that carries the Lord's approval, and the teachings of the gospel of Jesus Christ have given my life meaning and purpose and joy beyond anything I could have imagined as a young adult with years in front of me. A temple marriage to a wonderful man that has loved and supported me has helped me live the teachings we enjoy and cherish to this day. I know the church and gospel of Jesus Christ are true. You can know it too.

How I live my faith

My husband and I are currently serving a Church Service Mission with the University Branch of the church. We work with the church's Young single adults and students attending the University of Georgia. We teach classes and host a number of meetings and activities that give the youth a safe-place to gather and grow during this remarkable time of their lives. We are so enjoying working with the youth increasing and strengthing their testimonies of the Savior, Jesus Christ. We love them loving the Lord. They are the future of goodness and hope in the church and in their communities as they go forward.

How are the activities of the Mormon missionaries funded?

Pam McLain
Three of our sons served missions in foreign lands, El Salvador, Argentina, and Venezuela. They raised money from the time they were young to put in mission funds. At their own expense and with strong testimonies, they served to teach the gospel of Jesus Christ in these countries to people they grew to love. It changed their lives to spend two years doing the Lord's work before they began their own futures. They and our family have been blessed in so many ways for their service. Show more Show less
