Hi I'm T.J.

I grew up in the south, as well as southern California. I'm an Athletic Trainer and loving being Mormon!

About Me

I grew up an old southern boy and moved out to California in the 5th grade and found myself in another Culture! I picked up hobbies like golf, surfing, volleyball, and football. I was one among few LDS members at my school and enjoyed associations from all walks of life. I worked at many jobs through my teens years so I wouldn't be a burden on my parents. After serving an LDS mission I decided to attend college where I found Athletic Training. It was the perfect combination of medical skill and having the atmosphere of athletic competition all rolled up into one. I'm lucky to say I found a choice person while in my undergrad and we have been blessed with two children. I am now working on receiving a Master's in the same field.

Why I am a Mormon

While in my teens I had many decisions to make! My parents were not attending any church, and did not even talk about religion. They weren't bitter by any means, just indifferent. Up until this point I was the last child of six and the last boy to have the opportunity to serve the Lord. My three older bothers had all served missions in places dotted all over the world. I had a decision to make. Do I believe this is Christ's church or not? After speaking with my bishop, I found that I needed to align myself with the Lord's standards. Through much prayer and tears, I found a better life. I knew that the change in me was coming from having faith first in the Lord, and second wanting my life to be better than it then was. I found myself not able to put the Book of Mormon down. I had to find out what was going to happen next, and find spiritual food to feast on! As with true repentance you turn from sin and change your life. I still remember the night I felt clean and felt worthy to serve my Lord! I found that this is the ONLY church that teaches ALL of His truths! Sure other churches teach of Christ, and while that is good, its not what saves. "many shall say in that day Lord, Lord...and [The Lord shall say] I never knew you!" I have found everything that I need to bring me back to Christ in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

How I live my faith

I volunteer in my local ward as the ward mission leader. I work with the missionaries to help bring the gospel to those in the area that want to learn more. On Sunday I help teach a class that teaches the fundamental truths of Christ's Church in the last days. This class has been a blessing because its the simple testimony of "babes" in the gospel where the spirit is felt so strong! There are a lot of "ah-hah" moments where the spirit speaks to individuals. And that is why it is so important to attend church weekly!
