Hi I'm Matt

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a father and husband. I've been a police officer and F-16 crew chief in the USAF. I am currently working for the United States Air Force as a network administrator. I had the opportunity to serve in Iraq, an experience I'll remember forever.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in to a Mormon family. At the age of 19 I chose to serve a mission for the church. I was called to serve in Japan. Upon entering the Missionary Training Center I started reading the Book of Mormon cover to cover for the first time. The spirit I felt while reading about Christ and his visit to the Americas was tremendous. Jesus taught us that we will know people by their fruits. The Book of Mormon teaches good things and backs the Bible as a testimony of the divinity of God and his son Jesus Christ. The personal knowledge I gained about our Heavenly Father's plan and the Atonement of Jesus Christ from reading the Bible and Book of Mormon is invaluable to me. I still cherish to this day the peaceful feeling I feel when I read it. I know that from the Bible and Book of Mormon together we can learn the complete plan of salvation and learn how to become better people and return to our God. The Atonement is the single most important event to ever occur in the history of the world. I have a personal testimony that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and my savior, through him we are saved from spiritual and physical death.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by showing love to all my brothers and sisters on a daily basis. I try to be a good example and live my life in a way that is honorable. I avoid activities that would be harmful to my body or to the image of the church. I also live my faith by being a good husband and father to my family. I support and provide for my family in a way that is pleasing to my Heavenly Father. I raise my kids to believe in God and to treat others with unconditional love. In short I strive to be Christlike.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

The answer to this question can be found in part in one of my favorite chapters of the Book of Mormon; Alma 34:8-17. Amulek was a missionary and he is talking about mercy vs justice and how the Atonement fills the gap. Show more Show less
