Hi I'm Deanda

I was born and grew up in the Northwestern United States. I am very involved in Family History. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 69 years old. The mother of two children and a grandmother. I am also raising a 16 year old grandson who has been with me since he was six. We live in northeast Florida. I love to travel - which I did alot of that when I showed Paso Fino Horses - and I love doing Genealogy/Family History work, reading and knitting.

Why I am a Mormon

I was baptised at age 15 becuase my stepfather's family was Mormon. I have been less active for many years but in the last 20 years or so I have come back to the church and now feel that I know and understand more than when I younger. I love reading the scriptures and trying to understand the plans that are contain therein. I know the scriptures are true and that the Lord will not give us anything to do but where he will also lead and guide us.

How I live my faith

I am the Family History Consultant for my ward and the Director of the local Family History Center. I love helping people find their ancestors or something that they did not know about their families. I also love working with computers so this research work ties together two of my loves. I also do indexing of the old records. I teach church members how to use computers and learn the data bases of Family History. This year I have also helped to organize and plan the 1st Annual North Florida Genealogy Conference to be held in March 2011 in Jacksonville, Florida. I volunteer in places where I can be useful in as much as my diabilities will allow.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

In my position of Family History Director I help many non-church nenber with Family History Research. I promote my Family History Center to the community by having displays at the local county Fair each year. I am also a member of the local Genealogy Society and work with them on open houses, presentations at meetings and other events. Show more Show less
