Hi I'm Kelly

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I went to college (engaged with my husband) to study music. One year later we were married. We both attended the same university for the next 4 years. It was a wonderful experience to help us both grow closer together and a great opportunity for me to receive an education. We graduated and 3 weeks later had our first child. We now have 3 children under the age of 4 and yes it is a little nutty around here! I am learning how to play a new instrument (oboe), I love to ride my bike, play with my children, and I really enjoy hiking. I am trying to get better at baking bread, being more efficient at cleaning my house, and saving money.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was eight I was baptized. I knew it was right but I didn't realize how much it would effect my life. I remember stepping into the water giggling with excitement. I knew what I was doing was the right thing. Today I vividly remember how warm the water was and how my heart felt the same way. I received the Holy Ghost afterward and as I live my life now I am grateful for my parents who showed me what I needed to do to have the true Gospel of Jesus Christ in my life. As I attend church now I am constantly reminded of the same joy I felt at baptism- the joy of being a disciple of Christ, the joy of being counted among his people, the joy of having the companionship of the Holy Ghost all the time. I desperately need the constant reminder of Christ's atonement in my life and I am thankful I live in a time and place where I can worship freely.

How I live my faith

I play the organ for the congregation. I love sharing my talents and being a part of creating a reverent atmosphere where people can feel the Spirit and draw closer to Heavenly Father and to each other. I am also the choir director. I have always thought it would be easier than it is to direct a choir as I have worked with many different choir directors in the past. Heavenly Father has guided me. I know I could not do it without divine help. Also, together with another women from the church we meet and visit with at least 4 women. We get to know them, share a spiritual message and make sure their needs are met. It brings me great joy and I actually feel more blessed as I actively serve others because I am really serving God.

What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

Kelly
It is amazing to me the many blessings I continue to receive by reading words of the prophets. As a study the Book of Mormon I get inspiration on how to deal with my children. I have searched the scriptures for answers to my problems such as how to deal with a screaming 3 year old child. Well my answer came which was love him more and be patient. This wasn't the answer I wanted but I put it to work and tested it. It turns out I was the one who needed to change. I needed to be more like Christ and in return my son started following my example.
