Hi I'm Lynsey

I'm from Manchester, England, I'm a Mormon and I love it!

About Me

Hi! So this is where I get to wow you all with tales of how great I am is it? Well I'm not really that great, I'm just like everyone else, far from perfect and doing my best to get through whatever life throws at me. I was born and raised in Stockport just outside Manchester in the North West of England. I love nature and the outdoors. One of my favourite activities is to stand on a beach in the rain and watch a storm out to sea. SO atmospheric! Please feel free to get in touch if you'd like to know more :)

Why I am a Mormon

Because it is God's true church restored on the earth (the clue is in the name) and because I KNOW it's true! I am a convert to the church yet I was brought up with church principles all my life. Here's my story in brief... My mum had been a member of the church since her teenage years but went inactive when she reached her twenties. Since then she got married, had three children and lived her life. One day a neighbour knocked on our door promoting a charity. She and my mum got talking as you do and they both discovered that the other was a member. This lady invited my mum back to church but she wasn't sure so I said I would go just to keep her company. If anyone tried the 'hard sell' I would be out of there faster than you could say 'Book of Mormon'! I believed I just didn't see myself as the 'church going' type at the time. Well I went with her and not only that my sister came too and we loved the experience that we had. It felt like home and the Spirit was so strong I couldn't wait to go back! They arranged for the missionaries to talk to us and I was baptised when I was 18 years old. I felt like a whole new person! The greatest feeling in the world is having the Holy Ghost witness to you the truthfulness of the Gospel. None of us are perfect but I know that Heavenly Father loves us no matter what we might have done in our past. If we truly want to change our lives He is there waiting with His arms outstretched to welcome us and to forgive us. It's never too late!

How I live my faith

I try my best to keep the commandments and basically try to show a Christ-like love whenever I can. This can be very difficult at times as we are only human and human things tend to annoy or frustrate us. I do try to keep my attitudes and behaviour in check though. I try hard to pray and read my scriptures daily and I tell people about the church. All my friends and work colleagues know I am a member and I don't feel any shame in telling anyone, in fact I quite like being different! We've had many a discussion about the sacrament and the temple, especially temple marriage, why I don't drink certain things, why I won't go to bars with them etc. People who really are your friend or want to know you won't be phased by that, they just accept you for who you are and if they don't then it's their loss!   I have a very strong testimony of the power of prayer. I know without a shadow of a doubt that our Father in Heaven hears and answers prayers. He is always there no matter what my worry or problem might be which just demonstrates His love for us.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Well just look around you! Everything you can see was created by god, including you! We are told this in the scriptures which can and should be studied and pondered prayerfully. Prophets in the scriptures talk of witnessing the power of God. Another way you can find out if God exists is to talk to Him! If you haven't done it before it may feel a little odd at first but once you start it just flows. Find a nice quiet and private place where you won't be disturbed, kneel if possible and just talk to God. Tell Him what you are grateful for in your life, ask Him for blessings that you feel you need, ask Him to let you know He is there and you will feel His presence through the Holy Ghost. It requires just as little as an ounce of faith and maybe a little patience but He will answer you. Show more Show less
