Hi I'm Courtney

I'm a Convert.

About Me

I love living in the state of Washington. I enjoy the cold rainy weather, it gives me a chance to snuggle with a good book. I'm from a large family with 17 aunts and uncles and well over 30 cousins. I was 21 when I first heard that families could be together forever, and to me that's true happiness. I have been a member since 2007. I'm a stay at home mom with two toddlers, two cats, a husky and a wonderful husband.

Why I am a Mormon

I was never raised in the church, in fact I was part of a long conversion project. The most unique part of the conversion process was the fact that my husband and I were able to share a large home with our best friend and his family and children (who were raised in the church). We were able to witness and participate in what it was like to live like a LDS member. Seeing first hand how the church worked (as an investigator), what the people of the church were like, and most importantly learn of the fact that God still had someone here on Earth to lead His Church, a Prophet. After going through many missionaries, and having amazing conversations with our room-mates (till the late-late hours of the night) answering our questions about the church and faith, we took the time to pray to our Heavenly Father. Offering up sincere prayer and speaking with Heavenly Father that night of my conversion I will never forget. And since then my husband and I have been sealed, our oldest son was sealed to us and from now on all our children will be sealed to us. We have been truely blessed. Our story of being non-members to end up living with members and in the end becoming members is a great conversation starter. It is unheard of and very uncommon. But I'm greatful for it, to me our roommates are dear friends, family and it was them who helped save me and my family. I will be forever greatful.

How I live my faith

Being a new convert and a mother of young toddlers I was spiritually starved to learn more. It was an answer to my prayers when I was called to be Sunday School teacher to the younger teenagers of my ward. I also have the blessing of visit teaching sisters in my ward. I enjoy being able to serve my community by participating in cleaning up local parks. It is special to me being able to share nights with my family reading scriptures with our children and seeing how my children apply these lessons: praying, singing songs and showing acts of kindness.
