Hi I'm Megan

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a recent college grad with a BA in Middle East Studies. I love spending time with my family watching movies and sports, talking politics, and singing together. I have fun staying active with yoga, zumba, and volleyball, and I LOVE anything international - especially FOOD! :) History, Indian food, and dancing are probably the best things in the world besides a good laugh with family and friends.

Why I am a Mormon

Sometimes I feel like despite anything good that I do with my life - anything I achieve or accomplish with excellence - it still isn't enough because it isn't perfect. I've spent a lot of time feeling like I'm not worth anything because I'm not as good as I need to be. During those times, I have felt Heavenly Father try to communicate with me through the scriptures, the inspired words of family and Church leaders, priesthood blessings, and the Holy Ghost to assure me that He does love me and my best effort is good enough for Him. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints teaches that life is about becoming more like our perfect Father in Heaven. The things we are asked to do as members of the Church help us establish a partnership between ourselves and Jesus Christ in which we do the best that we can to emulate His example, and Christ does the rest. I have come to understand through much heartfelt prayer that that is what God asks of us, and that is what I'm committed to do. I believe that Jesus Christ is our Savior, that He is the Son of God, and that His atoning sacrifice makes it possible for us to become the type of people we need to be to live with our Heavenly Father again.

How I live my faith

Right now, I attend church in a ward specifically for young single adults, and I'm actively involved with the women's organization there. I have a specific assignment to help coordinate visits between the women (or "sisters") in the ward where we develop friendships, teach each other the gospel, and look for opportunities to serve each other. It's a wonderful way to get to know some of the amazing women in my neighborhood and to develop the type of love and respect for them that our Heavenly Father has for each one of us.

What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

Reading the Book of Mormon in conjunction with the Bible and other sources of scripture helps us learn more about who God is and how He interacts with us. The knowledge they convey about our relationship to Heavenly Father gives us a sense of peace and happiness in our daily lives. Understanding the scriptures doesn't happen all at once, but when we read them consistently with an honest heart, ponder their meaning, and pray about them, they provide us the answers we need to be happy and increase our ability to live more in harmony with our Heavenly Father and the teachings of Jesus Christ.
