Hi I'm David.

I'm an air force brat. I love playing board games. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in various places across the USA. Right now, I'm a student teacher preparing to teach math in high school. I recently got married and I'm learning that it's quite an adventure! I play the piano and enjoy playing a few pieces when I can. (I don't have a piano in my home yet.) My favorite music to play is video game music. I've learned a few pieces from Mario and Final Fantasy games.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon family. As a kid, I went to church because that's what my family did. Then, when I was about 14-15, I read The Book of Mormon for the first time. I was in a class that we call seminary where we studied it more in depth than I ever had before. Toward the end of The Book of Mormon, there is a promise that if we ask God whether the book is true, He will tell us by the power of the Holy Ghost. I did so, and I felt a strong sensation inside me that I can't describe very well, except that it was warm and comforting. I knew that was the Holy Ghost telling me that the book was true. I have learned much more about the doctrine of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints since then, and everything I have come to know has reaffirmed my belief. I am a very logical person, and what I have learned in this church makes sense to me to a degree that no other religious teaching ever has. That is why I continue to live my life as a member of this church.

How I live my faith

Since I just got married, the place where I go to church is very new to me. I'm still getting to know the other people there, but they are all so nice, it has been much easier to make friends there than in other circumstances I've been in. I participate in home teaching, where we visit the families of other church members and see how they're doing, be friends with them, and share a spiritual message with them. It's a wonderful program that makes sure we all have a place and no one is left out.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Joseph Smith was a prophet of God, as were prophets in the Bible like Moses, Noah, and Elijah. We hold him in high esteem because of the great things he accomplished during his lifetime, but we do not worship him as God. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

God's grace is the gift that He gives to us that allows us to be perfected in Christ, despite our human weaknesses.  It is only by His grace that we can be saved. God has promised His grace to us on the condition that we have faith in Him, repenting of our sins as we try to become more like Him. Show more Show less
