Hi I'm Jenn

I'm a Mormon. I grew up in the mountains of Utah but now call Texas home. I live here with my husband and four children.

About Me

I am a mother of four fabulous children. My husband and I just celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary. I keep busy running kids around and entertaining crowds of teens and tweens in my home. I work from home and spend time volunteering at my children's schools and at church. I studied English Literature and Communications in college and have spent most of my adult life in publishing. In my free time I love to read. I am always on the look out for a new good book.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family who were very active in the Mormon church. I have ancestor's on my mother and father's side who were pioneers in the Mormon church. I suppose I have always had a testimony of the gospel - but I leaned heavily on my parents testimony until college. In college my beliefs were questioned and I found that I needed to have my own answers and understanding of the Savior's gospel. I wish that I would have started that intense search earlier, I sometimes feel far behind in my study of scripture and doctrine. But I am grateful for that catalyst - to strengthen my own testimony and to find out for certain the truthfulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I am so grateful for the atonement of Jesus Christ. I am overwhelmed at what He suffered and did for me in Gethsemane. I have felt the comforting and cleansing power of the atonement in my own life and I have watched it work in the lives of people around me. I know that the Lord loves me and that He has a plan for me. If I choose to use the atonement in my life, I know that I can live with Him again. I am so grateful for the knowledge of the literal resurrection of the Savior - and the promise of my own resurrection. I feel so blessed to have the peace of the gospel in my life, to have the peace that comes from a relationship with my Savior and His promise that His hand will always be offered to us in times of trials and temptations. I have such a long way to go and so many imperfections, but I hold on to the promise that I can continue to try, to move forward a little at a time and that He will help me to make it back to Him.

How I live my faith

I enjoy working in both my community and church. I have spent several years working as a volunteer at my children's schools, in the classroom and in PTA. I currently serve as secretary in the PTA at my children's elementary school and on the PTA board at my children's middle school. I have had the opportunity to serve in many different positions in my church. I have worked with the children as a teacher, a music director, and as the leader of the children in the congregation. I have also served with the young women (ages 12-18) as a teacher and leader. I loved working with the youth! They are so strong and full of faith. I currently serve with the women in our congregation. I enjoy working with the women. I love getting to see all the service that goes on among the people around me. I love getting to interact with these fabulous women and learning from their examples. I think one of the main reasons I appreciate these opportunities to serve is the way that it makes me rely on the Spirit. I do not know the individual needs of each sister in our congregation; I do not always know when they are struggling with a trial or challenge - but I know that our Heavenly Father knows. And as I turn to Him I can better serve these sisters and reach out to them in their trials and needs. I find myself growing spiritually as I serve and I am so blessed by the people I associate with.
